Clutch rocks

He used a Ric in Clutch's early days but Im not sure if he still plays them. Ive seen Clutch twice in the last year...one show he was using a Fender Precision, the other a Black Gibson SG bass with big humbuckers(a custom maybe?)

In both shows his rig consisted of 2 ampeg SVT cabinets...one paired with an SVT classic head, the other with a Fender Bassman 300.

note to his left, the bassman head and SVT cab. Farther left you can see the corner of the SVT classic head. Its been bugging me trying to find out what model Gibson that is, it sounded incredible during their show a few months back.

If you get a chance to see them live... GO. I assure you you will not be let down. I saw them at the HOB New Orleans, "An Evening With Clutch"... ****ing awesome.

its a sunn 300t, and that bass is a gibson sg-z bass. the sg-z was discontinued by gibson in 2002 and you could probly find a few floating around ebay every now and then if you look hard enough.

Thats a sunn head? Damn it looks identical to the Bassman. I Stand corrected.

Thanks for the info on the Gibson bass! I gotta keep a lookout for one of those.

 They are a pretty boring band though, unless you're stoned, which in that case they completely destroy all.

Man I have a super bassy stereo, and when I'm stoned I turn it up real loud set the speakers on my floor and lay down.

I take it you listen to stoner/sludge metal/rock Manti?

yup, it's an sg-z bass. the two pickup configuration is the default for that one. also, he removed the cool pick gaurd

Clutch is more jam based rock than pure stoner metal in my opinion. With a heavy dose of southern/blues rock influence, and also you'll notice some occasional funk elements here and there. I love them because they have such a unique sound and lyrics.
