And thos are just 2 beats I had them fine without my drumset and on my set it's wrong, this is so frustrating my lessons are tomorrow and I can only play 7 of the 12 beats and I havn't had time to work on the rudiments, aggghhhhhhhhh. :smash: :angry: :smash:

I usually am unprepared until the day before as well... Take it slow though, they don't mind if you take it slow.

Alright, and if he complains though, I'm seriously going to get mad because I think he gave me way to much for a first lesson. But yeah, it's 11:15 now, so my neighbors are most likely awake and if they arn't, well who needs to sleep in? I'm off to go play around with my drums, I'm going to tune 2 of my toms today and possibly go back to a factory snare head. But thanks for the advice, surprisingly reading that made me feel better because I'm worried he'll get mad, but I can play them slow by tomorrow.

I'm just curious - how fast are you trying to play these? You need to take things slow initially.

I take them slow, and I play them, but it seems like I have to play them slow foreverrr

play it slow (yea i know boring), relax (*very* important), and isolate the bit you can't get properly.

So if you can play
H|xxxxx
S|-xx--
B|x--xx
then leave that bit

and just play
xxx
x--
-x-
over and over

boring, but it works. Once you have it down, just stick 'em together. It actually works, that's how i got the intro to Know Your Enemy down all those months ago :smoke:

I don't know many grroves with 5/8 ;) That probably wasn't the best example. But yeah you got it bang on. Isolate certain parts you don't understand, works wonders.
