Hey again guys,

I recall a while ago Pete asking about RHCP's "By The Way"

Well, i made a video of me playing it (pretty badly)

I improved a lot and the main tom beat is a little bit off but its the thought that counts.

It's like this...

He's keeping time on the floor tom.

Hits small tom on the + of 1 then the mid tom on e of 1.

Like this...

Yeah...looks confusing...try it out

Its supposed to be played constantly through out that part of the song, but i didnt play it constantly, i did more improv.

It might just be your stick size that is throwing me off (I use 2b) But it looks like the stick is half way up you right hand (The butt is in the palm?) And not all the fingers seem to be controlling.

Again it might just be because Im not used to watching people play with 5a's up close. <shrug>

Your hand just looks so crippling with that small stick heh...

EDIT: Yeah your hands are too big for those wimpy 5a's I understand it is preference, But on that last cymbal roll, you were holding on with 2 fingers.

By The Way is such a fun song to play. just 1 little tiny pet peeve of my, that is really nothing, but i feel i have to mention anyway, when ever chad isn't playing that hats with his hands, he's playing 8th them w/ his feet, it adds that little extra bit that makes it really funky

I think you would have a better grip with bigger sticks. I held them the same way you did when I tried switching to 5as from 5bs.

he could easily do it with audacity(audio editing program) ill try it but i dont know how to get the audio out of the viedo

I've tried and tried at that version and i've just had to change it so that the 2 hits on teh smaller toms (urs goes small-med) have had to change round, sounds good, thanks mate
