Hey I can you name off some disco bands which have decent drumming in them because me and my buddy are starting this experimental band, and it'll use some disco drum beats in it but I need some inspiration for this.

i'm not big on disco, but a basic disco beat is this:

h| xoxoxoxo
s| --o---o-
b| o---o---

i don't think that really helps, but good luck.

yeah, if you listen to any disco band, every drummer plays the exact same beat in every single song. It's the beat that sic tabbed out, only there's probably a bass drum on all four beats.

Yes! That beat is awesome! :)

Check out Panic! At The Disco. Their song, Time To Dance is pretty techno/disco IMO.

That sucks..
Gah, so I guess I'm going to be an inovator and come up with disco beats that are not that, but stray from that.

Kool and the Gang
Ohio players
KC/Sunshine band

just get one of the pure disco comp. cds

There's also a lot of artists who have recorded a tune or two with a disco groove, but are not "disco" themselves.....like Stevie Wonder, and maybe even Steely Dan.

(totally unrelated)
All drummers should listen to Steely Dan. They should just include a copy of Aja with each and every pearl export set.--"Here ya go kid..."

:) Aja is my very favorite Steely Dan album. And maybe one of my favorite albums of all time. I especially like I Got The News. The drummers that played with Steely Dan (Steve Gadd, Ed Greene, Rick Marotta, Jim Keltner, Paul Humphrey, and to a lesser extent Bernard Purdie) all lay down the funkiest grooves you'll ever hear in your life, especially on Aja (the entire album).

PLUS, Aja has a guest appearance by Wayne Shorter! :) How can you go wrong?!

Yeah, that "Somebody Told Me" song has that disco beat during the chorus.

How about Head Automatica ?

Most of their album (I think they only have one atm) has a disco vibe, and the beats aren't boring either :)

"Check out Panic! At The Disco."

I really love some of their drumming! so simple, yet not...

add a base note to each beat of the beat given to you and you have a classic disco beat.

I wouldn't have understood that post, if it weren't for Groove Essentials.
