I'm looking into forms of percussion other than your standard fare kit - after deliberating whether to focus on Djembe, Bongos or Congas I've finally decided Congas kick the most a55 (by a small margin).

I've had a bit of a bash on some of the congas down at my local drum centre (some slightly lame/generic brands, some Meinl, Pearl and the signature Santana range - LP I think) and am having a little trouble deciding what to go for.

Can anyone recommend (or not) any particular brand, model or price range that I should aim for (will probably end up spending between £200 and £300)? Any tips for this humble hand percussion beginner?

All help appreciated!

i was looking into congas. i dont know what to get either. im going to cheak on ebay in a bit. i think(only guessing) that LP would be the best bet. my teacher has one and he said hes had it for about 10 years so good buy i guess.

Yeah, LP seem to be the biggest name around.

I can vouch for Meinl and Pearl products from experience, though... just makes the choice that little bit harder...
