Yeah... So.

Took me nearly 5 years to get 8000 posts here.

Reflections of good memories here over the years. Teaching kids about punk rock, and it's morals and dispelling the myths. The joy and pleasure of argueing. Helping young people seperate the wannabes from the doers. How important it is for us to recognize the freedom of music, and the freedom of the expression of art. The ability for young people to express themselves through music without worry about some major record exec breathing down your neck telling you what people wanna hear, when what you create is all that's important. All you need is some cheap instruments and some heart, and the ability to express yourself. It's real. More real than any other music. Some people like to appease the masses. Punk rock changed that. No more big time pop superstardom. Real people playing real music. It changed the world. Whether you like it or not.

Moderating various forums over the years has also been fun. Pit mod sucked back when MX was an elitist club of vets who flamed bashed and slammed any noob who tried too hard. I know you guys still do this. Keep it up. It totally rocks. E-peen is more important than anything else on the internet.

I've enjoyed the time I've spent here. I'm still here. I've been through a great deal myself. You guys shared in the birth of my daughter. Reveled in the joys of marriage with me, and shared in my despair at my divorce. All the friends I've made. Some I keep in touch with, some I pop in here to goof with.

Amazing place this. All over the world. People young and old gather to spam nonsense, and have some sensible discussion.

Everyone who is a part of this place has an opportunity to share in each other like no one else. Please don't squander that. Learn from each other. This place really can have an amazing effect on young people. Network, make e-friends, learn about all kinds of things around the world. You really can't beat it.

Listen.. all I tried to do was set people straight with regards to the how and why. When I got in that forum every thread in there was Blink and Green Day. All I did was get the good stuff out there. It aint like I bashed people randomly and never suggested anything else. I tried to bring tasteful punk into the center of discussion in there, and teach people about the bands who made the culture what it is today. I worked really hard to bring new music to the forum goers, and I think I accomplished that. Maybe I was rough about it, but sometimes I think it was necesarry.

I'll admit I did a lot of genre elitism, but I truly think people were the better for it. No one trolls other forums anymore. I beat all the idiots out of the respective forums, and I really feel as though I made a postive difference. People are smarter about their music, and have a great understanding of the history of it. I gave a LOT of free music away and I spent a lot of time educating people with long winded posts that still get referred to to this day.

Band Profiles were my doing. Free Music threads were my doing. Featured Artists were my doing. All these forums now use these features regularly.

I did the best I could when I modded. I was a jerk and an arrogant elitst, but I accomplished the job I set out to do. I even stepped away from modding when I knew I couldn't be what the community deserved.

But yes, I remember big time bashing in the Punk forum back in the day, when Pop Punk was only like, a dream or something.

And please don't misunderstand. I think that if it weren't for all the abuse I received in the early days I'd have never gotten to actually become a "moderately good user" on the internet in general, because I had no idea how you had to express our thoughts and such by using only a bunch of words, without the need of shouting and doing that stuff.

However, I don't remember you bashing, anyhow. But what had to be done was done right? hehe

I really am no big fan of Bush. He was the only real alternative though, because Kerry would have spent more money but lost no lives and Saddam would still be in power killing his own people.

I still listen to a lot of hardcore, mostly NYHC stuff like Token Entry and Gorilla Biscuits, but I tend to be more mellow these days.
