I need to challange my composition skills again and wanted to start these again (for the like 4th time).
I'm sure that most people know the rules but in case new people want to join, here are the rules; (check me if I'm wrong)
You must create a composition that's not over 8 minutes in midi format. Using tools such as Guitar Pro and Power tab. No rules other then following the theme and only using midi. If you post a entry then you must vote in order to be counted. You vote on every entry entered and you give a little commentary on it. If you fail to vote for people your entry wont be considered. More on voting later (if this actually happens).
once you create a song you post it on thezerozone(in yahoo groups). You must become a member first though.
Anyone interested in starting the challanges again?

I'd be interested in sort of "shadowing" if you will. I'll write off the theme, and I might post it if I can work up something interesting enough. No guarantees on my part though, semester's winding down and I'm not sure about my workload. . .

That sounds reasonable. Thanks :). Ok make a theme but make it a general one so that way people who never participated before won't get too confused.

So, what form of midi are we talking? Are like you talking the MIDI that sounds like crappy ring tones? Or MIDI that you use with programs such as Ableton Live etc?

I havnt heard of Ableton live. They do sound kinda crappy though, but with certain programs you can get the best out it with panning/multiple instruments. I use Guitar pro my self.

It's a moderately middle of the road music workstation kind of program. It sounds 1000000X better than the midi you're talkin about. I don't have it, just the demo, so I can't save, so for now, I'm not it, but I don't think it would be legal anyways.

Oh, you wanted me to do it?
Do you mean like a conceptual theme, or a motive, or like actual thematic material?

Anything samual. Nothing complicated like only 3/4 time or using only strings. Just something that's broad enough to get a wide spectrum of ideas.
nah, im out of these... I stopped writing on my pc... now im writing solely by hand... fortunately...
