A few months ago, a friend of mine whom I know online linked me to this site that he had found really useful in the past to find new music that he liked, based on bands, or even songs that he liked at the time.

As it says on their main page;

"Can you help me discover more music that I'll like?

Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.

We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you."

Has anyone else used this before? I think it's really fun to use. Sometimes it's dead on with the kind of music you're looking for, or you find something cool anyway, other times it seems way off for the sound you're looking for, or looks at the songs on too much of a basic level.

Give some feedback here, and feel free to discuss this really interesting site.

It's a great tool to discover new music or to broadcast music as an online radio. Someone in my school wrote about it in our school newspape a few months ago, and I checked it out the day after. Pandora brought up some sweet stuff I never heard of on the first use.

Great site. :thumb:

I tried that a few months ago, but never really got any bands recommended that I liked. For example, one time I typed in Porcupine Tree and it gave me black metal.

EDIT: Other than that, it's like you said, they analyzed the songs too much on the surface and never picked up the things that I actually liked about the band (ie, atmosphere, etc.)

seemed half-assed to me. it replays alot of stuff, and there isnt a tremendous variety.

I just heard a couple of songs by artists that I can't find/havn't got the CD's for, so I'm happy for tonight.

I just tried it, i think it's a great idea, but i think any site that plays music for free is pretty awsum :).

I like Pandora, it's helped me discover a lot of new music, and listen to music by bands/artists I've heard of but never actually listened to.

That's pretty cool, the quality is really good for streamed stuff as well, thanks for that.

I like Pandora, like at school. Ever since they banned the executable version of last.fm. It's nice. Not as good as last.fm, but it's free and easy, and I'll take it.

I would listen to Pandora at my school but the computers there have every kind of blocker for everything imaginable.

It's great for a lot of music, but I've found it absolutely horrible for Prog Rock, Hard Rock, and any genre of metal!

It's ok. The first time I used it, it was awesome. After that it got really repetitive. I punch in "Testament" and it gives me eight Testament songs, one from another band, and then more Testament.
