What set would you buy for like recording/touring?.

I would get either exotic wood DW or a custom OCDP.

Jezen

Sonor, DW, Yamaha, Pearl...

Bah I dunno. There are loads of great kits around.

Janeway

One of those fancy solid shelled ones.

There was no joke..

We made a solid wood dildo. It was very very smooth, but then the dog ate it.

id have my manager send out endorsement request packages to various companies, and would prolly take on anyone willing to sponsor me.

local store sponsorships can also be worth wild.

Sonor, Brady. I mean if any other company offered me free drums, I might do that, but I'd probably go Sonor or Brady out of choice. Maybe Jalapeno.

I'd keep my Taye StudioMaple Custom.

Janeway

Yeah, but it's not flexible enough.

SparBZ
03-28-2006, 05:02 PM
I'm not a female, I can't judge that.

But a bunch of laquer would make that baby slide and shine xD

its funny that all you guys want some "exotic" kit while every "pro" drummer usually plays on quite normal (altough high end) sets..

Vibrators > Dildos i have been told

Some are total vibration wusses.

Berk

I would go with C&C, MoonDrum, PorkPie or Noble and Cooley.

"Do people actualy buy anal beads?"

that's why they make them, smarty.

As for the drums - I'd probably go with Yamaha or DW. I'd only consider a custom shop if they made me four dirrente kits with a bunch of crazy extras all for free. If they did that, I'd been with a custom shop for sure.

definently truth custom drums with all sabians

Its a waste. Firstly, the kit would get wrecked and secondly, most touring drummers dont bring their kits with them - They hire or get sponsored in whichever town theyre playing in.

I would go Pearl for sure, But I would even be happen with Sessions, the shells are maple or birch, and the hardware on them is still great.

Yamaha Maple Custom... or Birch... or beech or oak, one of 'em

Any brand would do, except for Pearl, Tama and Yamaha.
I'd prefer Peace (paragon) or Premier (premier).
Cymbals: No Zildjian, Paiste or Sabian.

when you're pro, you wont mix-n-match brands.

Carn
03-29-2006, 05:32 AM
actually, alot of professional/recording drummers use whatever they want in the studio. There is no reason to stick to your "endorsed cymbals" if you might have an other brand which sounds better in a certain situation.

03-29-2006, 05:34 AM
your sponsers wont like you for very long.

Touring -
I'd love a Sonor/DW/Mapex high end kit with either pearl/dw hardware and a black panther snare. A sponsership from Paiste/Zildjian/Sabian would be awesome, they are all great companies. Roland V Drums for my electronics.

thats nonsense. As long as you endorse and promote the manufacturers product in public. Its impossible to say "you can only use our gear or else find a new endorser".

Anything high-end. Probably not exotic veneer.

My top choices would be a custom Global segmented kit, not positive on the wood, Mapex Saturn, Sonor Delite/S class.

I HATE yamaha tom mounts. High end kits should always have suspended tom mounts.

Suspended mounts aren't as great as they seem. They increase the risk of a lot of complications in the shells and hardware. Yamaha's YESS mounts are one of the best mounts on the market.

mamcdonald
03-29-2006, 07:12 PM
^ Agreed. YESS mounts, although they don't "suspend" the drum still leave huge amounts of resonance and are one of the most ingenious designs ever created by the Yamaha team.

saturn bop set up. my dream set up. with some nice k's and an iron cobra. drool

^^to post above im just curious why you would want tons of resonance. resonance is bad in recordings, and miced situations, and can actually make all the drums blend together, leaving the drums not as well heard. also you dont want a drum to sustain for very long. resonance is not really needed enough to cover a beautiful drum with mounting stuff and hide it. unless your going for a powerful tom hit that lasts for a couple of beats, and is a powerful part of the music resonance is not really a necestiy

I HATE yamaha tom mounts. High end kits should always have suspended tom mounts.

The yamaha mounts are one of the best mounts out, plain and simple. They are extremely compact and low key yet they are very strong and super stable. Josiah vouches for them like crazy. He's had his yammies for years and hasn't had any problems with them.
