Whoa dude! I'm writing a review for it as we speak. :amaze:

It's pretty awesome, but I definately prefer Matthew Chalks vocals.

everyone has probably picked this up but there is not one solo on any of their songs, thats pretty different for a metal band.

There's already enough going on, so they don't need to solo.

Also, Joe Haley insists on being able to perform everything from the album by himself, so layering a solo over the top of a rythym section was out of the question.

There is a solo of sorts on The Scepter Of Jaar-Gilon though.

Towards the end? You're right. He doesn't play it live though.

I don't think solos would really add anything to their music anyway.

Not really. With the speed that Psycroptic blaze along at, it can be hard for a crowd to find a decent groove to mosh with. The riffage that supports that 'solo' is a perfect example of Psycroptic slowing down, delivering a real churning sound, allowing for a crowd to go nuts together. (I'm hoping you guys know what I'm talking about, it's hard to explain). It's also one of the best moments on TSoTA.

EDIT: @ aperfectool.

This thread has really disrupted my writing.

EDIT #2: Review is now up on sputnik. :)

Also, any Europeans who are browsing this thread, Psycroptic will be touring over there beginning next week, and running through to May. The first half of the tour will be with Cannibal Corpse and a number of other bands at No Mercy Festival. The second half of the tour they will be supporting Nile.
