I need some help in choosing a song to play for my Preliminary HSC assessment, i would like to play a solo bass piece but i need something thats not too hard and if possible has minimal slapping. Any suggestions?

Stu Hamm's Love Thing must be one of the most popular songs for this sort of thing... but with good reason. It's quite simple and it sounds beautiful - and harder than it is.
