Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had any ideas about making their own drum trigger. I want to create something i can use onstage to play sounds I can programme into it. Ultimately, I wanna be able to create a massive decaying "Boom" for the more powerful parts of one or two of our songs.

I was thinking of smashing up an cheap old keyboard to us the buttons/triggers from the keys, and building my own pedal to work it.

Or should I just pay a small fortune for a professional electronic drum kit just to use one of the pads? or can you buy them seperately? For reference, I'm in the UK.

Any thoughts/experience?

arses. i was hoping more for a basic £50 trigger module package from somewhere.

Or just if i could make some kind of machine that plays a set wav/mp3 file when i push a button.
(i.e. I'd build the button into some kind of pedal)

you could try hooking something like http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Drums/Percussion/Electronic/Drum/Machines?sku=444880 that to a computer?

If you can afford it, buy an Alesis DM5 Module (£200, less on ebay), and as many Koby Nano pads as you want (£20). I think you can link the DM5 to a computer too, using some midi cable.
