ok so a few years back when i was a newb, i was all into zildjian and tama of course, well back then i had some zildjian sticks cuz i thought zildjian was best at everything, and they sucked, they broke after a week. so i never bought them again, and i started using pro mark and never broke a stick (other than the bit of the tip would chip off which is usual) well this past christmas i got a bunch of drumsticks including a pair of zildjians and i just got around to using them (seeing how i got a bunch of pro mark too so i used those before the zildjian) well i finally got around to using them and i didnt think theyd break because last time they broke i was a newb and figured i just had bad technique back then so i played them, and they broke within 3 days, i hate them, zildjian sticks are terrible, pro mark all the way! or if you want them real durable go Ahead (but lets not go there)

any one else have bad experience with zildjian sticks?

I'm going to finally try out some pro-mark sticks, I've always heard good things about the Japanese Oak sticks, but never got around to buying any. So I'm buying a pair of Japanese Oak 5A nylon's. 16" length and .551" diameter, it's a little thin for me but it's the closest they had to what I wanted. Has anybody else tried this stick?

sometimes you just get a bad stick though.

ive been using these same vic firth peter erskine sticks for a while now, but sometimes i get a bad stick and it will break along the grain after just like a half of an hour of playing.

ive had worst experience with Vater and larger sized sticks though

yep, i once broke a zildjian in 5 minutes. durability wise i've had the best luck with pro mark jap oak(neil peart sigs in particular) but i also like my vater 5Bs and Chad smith sigs, and i'm a fan of vic firth danny carey sigs, those sticks just don't die

Zildjian sticks were made well at first but at some point the quality went downhill. Stick to Vater, Vic Firth or Promark and you'll be fine.

I broke a stick on the first hit (rim-shot). They were the cheap *** Musicianfriend 10 pairs for $10 though, it wasn't too bad.

I've had an affinity for vater sticks, i havent broken any except for the usual grind down. Pro Marks are pretty good though

Not horribly close but like 30 minutes or so. They have this sexy pond in the front with like a fountain and stuff.

I'm all about the Jap Oak Promarks. I've been using 747B Wood tips lately, which are getting harder to find for some reason. I actually prefer the 747A (the Neil Peart sig stick), but don't feel like it's worth the extra dollar. So went up a size one day, and have just stuck with it.

I HATE Vater sticks. So I stick with Vic Firth. Whats the Ahead website?

I reviewed a few brands of sticks in detail a few months ago, which is still available for reading at www.drum.com.au under the reviews section. Go check it out.

I've had a pair of zildjian sticks for about a year now. And the left stick is chewed up and about to give in any day now. I'm gonna try some pro marks though.
