are vic firth Metal N (CMN) sticks good to play on my pad with? close enough to marching sticks?

more than likely infact practising with big sticks will help build muscle... so i would say it would be a good thing

buy the biggest fattest sticks you can find and practice with them.

I'll sometimes trade off between my big marching sticks, and the sticks I use on set when using my practice pad.
i use vater fatback 3a on my practice pad. i use 8a when playing my kit.

Get some Ralphs
Ralph's are awesome. I use those and MSII sticks from VF.
