I think this isn't a great idea,
a) because its been done before
b) because people will post their kit in Gear and Media if they get updates/new set up etc. so this is rather poinless.
and c) people will soon get bored of looking at this and somethinbg else will be done, like favourite icecream flavour thread?

Snare angle can only be fixed by a new stand. Which I should get soon!
As far as cymbals are concerned I think the set-up is fine, or at least for me. I may change them more, make them higher at next band practice but I play with muffle pads so I only really use two crashes...

And I WILL be getting new heads, these are ok but the snare... different story  BAD!

Can it? my snare is flat and thats on my beginer set stand. Yeh, if you're happy with the cymbals thats fine, but i think they need to be flattened out more. Yeh I also need new heads, pain in the *** when you don't have a job and everwhere rejects you :(

Yes, but not with money.

i call my kit "her" similar to how a boat or car is a "her." study a romance language, with masculine/feminine nouns. in french, drumset is "la batterie." the la means the(f). if you try to say "it is..." you can say elle (she) est (is)...
therefore it makes perfect sense to call it a she.

need me to go on?

last year there was a family with two little kids (10 and 7) who would always come sit behind me while i played. The mother was disfigured in a car accident, she's got a left glass eye. The two little kids are crazy. The littler one, austin, was facinated by my playing. Every mass, after most people left, he'd come up and ask to play. i'd let him, showing him a couple basic things. over the summer, his mom asked for lessons for him. I said i'm not a teacher. I charged $5 an hour. He came over for an hour every monday. He taught me more than i tought him, i think, about how to enjoy playing for the Noise! and the Fun! and not just technique technique technique. He tought me how to teach, especially to such a young kid.

Actually, at every mass, i've got a little "fan club" of kids who like to sit by the choir just to get into the music and watch what's going on. I've gotten quite a few requests for teaching, most i say "in the summer" and a sad few i have to turn down... (i don't feel confident enough to teach a kid who has absoultely ZERO musical experience some basic music theory, like counting. Piano teachers are for that.)

I go to a catholic church, and while the average age of our church is 35 or so, (we're a YOUNG church. over the course of last year, we had a grand total of 12 funerals), some of the old people like it too. We do some rock stuff (especially with our new guitarist) and it's always fun to see the older folks moving just as much as the younger ones.
Sometimes after mass folks will come up to me and just say thanks. I'm not playing to get thanked, but it always feels nice knowing mission accomplished:

I play at church to help others worship. God gave me the gift of music, but what good is it if i don't share it? So playing with my church is a great outlet for my musical gifts. Nothing feels better to me than knowing i help others worship. that's what my playing at church is all about.

on top of all that, we have some craaaazy stories with the choir members that always make practice hillarious :D

(i don't expect most people on these boards to "get it" as the maturity of most folks on here is less-than-there...)

And I guess its great experience. How many people go? On average?
Average saturday mass will have 200 people, average sunday night mass is 300. Last christmas 10AM service we had 1000+ (and i was scared ****less). driest mass i played was during a tornado warning, the sirens went off so we went in the basement in the teen room, i brought my Eggz shakers and we had a jam with 50 people, but it was the most sentimental mass i'd had in quite a while.
we have 4 easter masses coming up, and tho i'm not playing, my girlfriend is playing viola in the band/orchestra/handbell choir/choir group. there's a forecasted 800+ in each mass.

What sorta stuff do you play? With a band or to accompany (sp.) the choir?
Myself on drums, my good friend Mark (who's 10 years my senior) plays electric guitar in both masses. Sat. night there's a piano and e-bassist (who's 50 and played at Prince's studio for a while) and an 8 pc. or so choir (including my girlfriend, who sings 1st sop).
Sunday night, no bass but we've got an acoustic guitar as well and a different 8pc. choir.

we play alt-esque music, but really a little bit of everything. we've got blues songs, latin songs, straight up rock songs, gospel songs, slow songs, fast songs, funk songs... only thing i've yet to hear is hip-hop.

Hah Zildjian. Thanks, Means a lot. Digging your set as well, especially Kramer Picture. I wish I was Kramer. Your set is a bit too large for my liking, But I'm liking the white, and your medium ride, Looks Killer. As well as other things, such as your snare, which is rather out there, Dope non the less though.

The question is, why don't YOU have Trev as your reso?

And the tape.. I know tape is lame, but I put it one for a reason I can't remember, and haven't bothered to take it off since, it sounds okay, still has that fantastic steel snare ring.

Nobody cares about the tape on his snare... You also saw his pinstripes too
Haha yeah, bought those when I didn't know about heads, luckily I bought dips for resos, which really open up the sound.

Yes it's a Sonor one.

It's alright, you can adjust the length of it, but i haven't bothered because at the moment it's steady enough.

actually, no, my next snare will be a 14x7 from TMD customs. check out their work, it's HIGH high class.

http://www.tmdcustoms.com/html/test.htm

if you really are curious, go to the gallery, then to snares, and that last one, the green one with black splatter, is kind of what mine will look like (sans vents and a different color).
