That's amazing! I would do something more extreme than just black paint job though, some kind of design that fits you.

It's all sunk into the back. Best part of the bass, IMO.

aren't you worried in the slightest about getting those signatures painted over? what are you going to cover them up with? will just tape hold up against autopainting machines? *don't really know much about auto painting*

So you won't see the signatures once you stick the neck on?
I agree with FMB, the routing is great.

yeah i should have explained the painting situation. im going to go meet the painter soon and talk to him. all that i know now is that ill get it very cheap if the man is painting a car the same color i want. everytime he puts a coat on the car, my bass gets a coat. if i go with a custom, crazy color ill be spending tons of money! ill have a chat with the guy though to get the full story.
the signatures are from alexisonfire, im going to mask that off, it shouldnt be painted anyways.. a rougher mortice will give a better hold.
yeah the electronics are on the back

How much money is tons of money?
I would say if it is too much, paint it yourself. you have put so much ace craftmanship into it, don't go with any less than your first choice in color.

Regular masking tape will be fine, unless the painter hammers the paint on (no real painter would do this). There are no machines that do painting other than in factories for brand-new cars. Any custom paintjob or repair is done by a painter with a spray gun.
Even if he weren't to cover up those signatures, they would probably bleed through and still be visible. He could just cover them up, as they will never been seen unless the neck if off.
The bass looks pretty good. I'm not a fan of radical shapes, but it looks like you know what you are doing. Carry on. :thumb:

Wouldnt you be worried about playing that bass at a gig? I mean, if you use a 90 degree patch cord or whatever and you're playing live. You obviously have more of a chance of unplugging yourself or just f*ckin' up your patch cord because your body is going to hit it all the time.
