View Full Version : I won BIG at the Eden clinic

Well, a few of you know, I was looking into purchasing a Nemesis 2x12 combo, 120w. I was sick of waiting for it to come in at Musician's Friend so I wanded into Keuglers Music in Baton Rouge and played around on some Edens. When I inquired as to why there were 40 eden amps/stacks out they told me they were lending equipment to an Eden clinic that was happening right down the street. I skipped lessons and went on down.
At the Eden clinic, I met Lane Baldwin of Eden Electronics, who was also not a bad bassist in his own respect. I told him how I was realy hurting badly for an Eden and there was no way in hell I would ever be able to afford it the head, turns out, there was a drawing to give a way a few prizes. After the clinic they did drawings and my dad won a Eden Nemesis n-8 practice amp. He gave me that and I was happy as could be already being that I had no amp what so ever. Then they called my ticket, but I missed what I won, when I went up to the stage I was greeted with a BRAND NEW EDEN TRAVELLOR 550 HEAD. I am so unbelievably phyched. I just have to buy a cab now, I'm probably going to go with avatar. But, in the mean time, this practice amp sounds SWEET!
Maurice Fitzgerald was the main focus of the event. He had his custom "Warrior" five string piccolo bass and Alpine White Fender P-bass five string through a complete Eden full stack. I missed the models but he was using a 6x10 and a 1x15. He had exceptional chops and a hell of a nice groove. I spoke to him afterwards and we told me I was doing faily well with my bass playing, we jammed a little bit, and he gave me some tips. He was a very chill, laid back guy and an honor to meet. They threw his backing back together in a week but they still managed to kick unbelievable ***. I was impressed and if givin the opportunity to see him, even with Destinys Child, I would go.
I also got some new strings, but it doesnt relaly beat the 1500 dollars of free gear.

Thats Awsome, it seems we both have the same problem though. A nice head, but no cab and no way to buy a cab. And even better the head gets it top rating a 2 ohms which calls for two cabs.

I was planning on running my head with two cabs at 4ohms, I can get more power at 2ohms naturally but is it less safe?
Ive never had money for a stack, so I've never learned how they work in detail.

The Eden will run perfectly stable at 2, 4 and 8 ohms.
Congrats, that one helluva prize!
What cab are you going to buy?

muthafunkabass: Well, I am irish, but it's mostly my dads luck. I also prayed to every higher power I could find on the internet.
Alma: If I can afford it, Eden. I can hold off on having a full stack for a while. If I can make it work with my budget(I have roughly $500 dollars), then Im getting either a 6x10 or a 4x10 eden cab first, and then soon after an Eden 1x15.

Cool. I'd probably go the 4x10, the 6x10 kind of kills portability. If you're after superior portability check at the 1x12's. They're killer cabs, nice and compact. Buy 2 of these and you've got a full rig that's damn good.

I figured a 4x10 and 1x15 would be a REALLY nice stack, thats the one I was doodling on when lane Baldwin walked up to talk. But Maurice was playing a 6x10 and it was SWEET!

As far as cabs go, try for the 2X10 XST and a 1X15XLT I promice you, you will have more than enough juice.
The 2X10XST is rated at 500W RMS at 4 or 8 Ohms and the 1X15XLT 400W RMS at 8 Ohms.
Basically combine the 2 in parallel and you will have one hell of a floor rumbling setup with scary tonal capabilities.
that 2X10 XST is scary in terms of frequency range 30Hz - 14KHz

How does the 2x10 compare to the 4x10 or 6x10?
Also, I can only get one now and one 4 or so months from now, which should it be?

Well I played the 2X10 XST through the WT550 head and the sucker had juice to boot, plus with the frequency response covering the lows right down to the 30Hz range I would definitely suggest the 2X10 and then the 1X15 at a later point to push more air. That 2X10 is a scary litthe bastard.

If that's supposed to be some kind of lame reference to me, it's badly flawed. My one Alembic and my room full of amps and other gear are the result of years of working hard and busting my ***, studying and learning everything I can. Not a bunch of stuff my daddy bought for me. :smash:
No, I never won anything, I got all that stuff the old fashioned way...
Now go listen to Shadows and Light 5 times and go to bed!

He could have also been refering to me. If that's the case, I got my gear the same way SoM got his.
Oh yea, and I don't have my Alembic any more.

I wasn't referring to either of you!! Seeing as both of you are far from snobby! So thanks for jumping to conclusions there :p
Basically what I meant is im glad someone who actually needed it got it rather than someone who didn't.

I see what you mean Jamie. They had the three winners, wel, my dad doesnt play so two winners, jam on twin eden rigs and I got props from 10 or so people who had been at the clinic. They seemed sincerely happy for my optainment and not the least bit bitter. They said it was nice to see someone as young as myself playing,

Neither.... Buy a schroeder instead. No seriously buy one, my schroeder eclipses the Eden 410 I tried and the highs are cleaner.
