Shawn, the 2nd percussionist from Slipknot, uses a kit made from old dustbins and kegs etc.

Has anyone else tried making their own metal percussion kit like this?

How many titanium dustbins have you seen? That sites wrong. He welded both sets himself.

Like Drum Phil said, he welded the kit himself. He doesn't use dustbins and only has one beer keg. The other drums were made by him.

slipknot is such a hazy subject. And I'm not going to state my opinion.
Lets just say I saw 2 knockout 3 piece bands, not neccessarily virtuoso's, but they could work a crowd.... and these 3 piece bands, were far far more solid than the 9 piece slipknot.......
Funny dat...

The website is wrong. For starters, Joey has more cymbals than those listed.

this is such a stupid argument. they do what they do and they do it well, thats why they get sell out tours, loads of money, and laid all the time. lets be honest too, we have no idea whatr kinda of purcussionist shawn is, all we know is that he hits things randomly for slipknot. so lets just drop the slipknot bashing.
Drum Phil
03-26-2006, 04:14 PM
No.
I get laid all the time, does that mean i could be in slipknot?

i got drunk and kicked a keg last night? does that make me a musician or a clown? OR BOTH?!?!?!
Drum Phil
03-27-2006, 02:35 AM
BOTH! Aaron, we can be a slipknot tribute. I vote me to be main drummer and play faster than my ability allows. You can play percussion and hit things and secks animals on stage an stuff.

i like slipknot, i dont care whether their not the best musicians,
just because people who dont know anything about drumming think there the best drummers doesnt mean that u should all of a sudden hate them
Drum Phil
03-27-2006, 04:20 AM
I hate them because they suck.
Aaron
03-27-2006, 06:46 AM

sean2332
03-27-2006, 03:20 PM
yeah..... it was in the beginning a bass drum and toms all turned upwards with a keg. Now i think it's all timpani drums with custom wraps/finishes, because he stands on them. And because of how they sound on "Skin Ticket" or "Iowa"
Drum Phil
