Basically, I was wondering what the easiest way to make the change from floating to standing floor tom. The floating floor tom is giving me trouble trying to make it fit well in my setup, and it would be easier to just have a standing one. I have a Tama Rockstar if that helps.

They make cradles I think theyre called. Its a circle hoop with the 3 legs and you put the tom in the hoop.

My suggestion would be to get a floor tom cradle. It wouldn't require any drilling into the shell, and it allows the drum to resonate better.
Here's an example:

I'm not sure where you can buy them though.

They're universal, as far as I know. But good luck finding one for a something smaller than 14". I think they only make them in normal floor tom sizes, aka from 14"-18" probably

I use a snare stand to turn one of my mounted toms into a floor tom and it works great actually.

I actually find with a floating tom it gives you better foot room ; not to mention sound

And (in my opinion) they look better.

i like the look of em. but a their weight resting on a big arse double braced leg doesn't exactly give much more foot room.

Snare stands to muffle the sound a bit though. But I don't know if it would muffle the sound more than a cradle or not.

What would be the cheapest method? The cradle is about $100 which is too much to spend for a minor inconvenience.
