View Full Version : Is Tom Cruise his own undoing?
In light of the South Park / Scientology incident, Tom Cruise has gone from an ok actor to a replusive midget freak (attempted to "kill" Oprah on her show, an almost shouting match with Matt Lauer on psychology, the b!tch fight with Brooke Shield on depression, forcing Katie Holm to stick a pillow under her clothes, etc.). Is he his own undoing? Will you see MI3?
Just curious.

I didn't particularly care for any of his movies before he started making a fool of himself anyway.

There's not too many movies I like that have Tom in them and even in those movies that I like he was only a good actor, I never found him as good as he's built up to be.

I like Tom. I think he's immensely talented and one of the better actors of his generation. His personal life doesn't bother me. Even if he does spread it around a bit thick. When he was more private people said things. "Weird" "gay" "reclusive". Now that he's more publc, most likely in an attempt to show people who he really is, people still talk. It's a lose lose situation for him.
I know plenty of people as eccentric as Tom Cruise. Most likely everyone does. It's just his celebrity that magnifies it. He is ok in my book....
....if a bit wacky....
I've seen so many gif files of him being blown sideways from the bomb exploding behind him, I might have to see it just for that bit. He is a decent actor though, regardless of how much he is a cockfag.

I think he's a prat. Shame that he's a pretty good actor. He was excellent in 'Born on the 4th of July'.
What this about "killing" Oprah Winfrey?

I don't think he is that great at all, just an average actor in my eyes, nothing special. Eyes Wide Shut is on at the moment and his performance is nothing that impressive.
Meh.

Don't forget the big deal he made about the guy spraying him with the water gun.

oh god that was funny
i dunno he's a little crazy, risky buisness and rainman both were excellent and classics though.
i don't know why everyone makes such a big deal, there are so many crazier celebrities

What he does in his personal life doesnt sway me from seeing what he does in his professional.

Top Gun is one of my favorite movies, despite some of its homo-erotic nature, but hey it was made in the 80s.
I grew up with military aviation through my dad so Top Gun is something I grew up with.:thumb:
Born on the Fourth of July was awesome, as well as Rainman and a bunch of his other movies.

Well, anybody who lost the lovely Nicole Kidman is on the path to eternal undoing anyways.

although his personal life resembles a warzone sometimes, i don't really care for that. tom's still a very good actor who is capable of making some badass movies.

What did he do in response to that South Park episode?

Has anyone noticed that he will only play in movies that he's the hero? Or is it just me?
He is still a great actor though.

I wouldn't **** with Tom Cruise if I were you. He's a level OT VII scientologist, beings who are said to be ble to move inanimate objects with their minds, leave their bodies at will and telepathically communicate with, and control the behavior of, both animals and human beings. Clearly this is 100% true, so I'd be scared if I were a talk-show host who just read the words "Tom Cruise" under the "Guests on today's show" list.

I'd say that his character in Rain Man isn't much of a hero either. Or Risky Business, for that matter. But yeah, Tom Cruise does seem to have gone a bit nuts. He's not as bad as some Hollywood personalities though.

He was no saint in the underrated Last Samurai or Born On The Fourth Of July, either. Eyes Wide Shut, as well. I find his characters complex and deep often enough. And he was a turd father and person in War Of The Worlds.

If someone sprayed me like that, quite seriously, I would most likely punch them in the face without even thinking about it. Just natural reflex. And I'm not ordinarily violent or violence minded, but WTF is that?

I've never actually seen the Last Samurai. I didn't bring up Born On The Fourth Of July because Ron Kovic is portrayed as an anti-hero of sorts. Throughout the movie he's shown as a good guy who's mistreated by his fellow man, who is ruined by a war, the movie doesn't even seem to try and blame him for shooting a fellow soldier, even though Kovic actually did seem to blame himself.
I also just remembered, his character in The Colour of Money is hardly a nice guy.
