I've never heard of a blast on a bass guitar. I think you are looking for the drum forum. lol. And about the guy from Fear Factory, he uses a trigger on his kick. That's what makes his kicks fast. Sorry.

I think its an effect the drummer does.....theres no way a bass guitar can change that much in tone and everything else.

i'm so very confused.

A massive, really low...BOOOM.

Its usually an electronic effect, heard best in cars with subwoofers, in metal music.

The triggers on his bass drums don't make him fast, his quick feet do.

it might also be something to do with the producing of the song...

have you heard them do it live?

As far as I know, Raymond only uses triggers in live situations?
The "bass boom" is a the way it was mixed, that's my guess anyway.

It's a synth effect. Easiest added in the mixdown after recording, but you could certainly set it up live to come off a drumkit, with a noise gate and a MIDI sequencer.

If you want to do it on a bass... best get yourself an extended-range fretless. :)

I am so lost. And yeah, triggers don't make drummers faster. I thought that, but then my brummer friend set me striaght. They just make each pedal have an even sound.

It makes it a lot easier to go fast with triggers though... You don't have to worry about playing AS clean... they cover up a lot of sloppy technique when doing double bass.

I don't like them though... I think it emphasizes my sloppy technique on a single pedal as the beater might come back and catch the trigger very lightly and create a regular bass hit.

But yeah... bass blasts... Never heard of them.

Chimaira style deep end "BOOM".

Strangely enough we have one on our new cd.

I think I know what you're talking about.

Job For A Cowboy does a lot of "blasts" on their DOOM EP.

I would assume that the blast comes in when the song is being mixed.

Unless we're not talking about the same kind of blasts.

Blast beats are sweet, though. :p

They can, but its very hard to coordinate them to do so. You can make it so everytime you hit a drum another sound comes through the PA. Therefore if I were to set the 'brain' of the trigger to make a quack sound everytime I hit the drum, it would sound like a duck everytime I struck the head. In that same sitatuion, I could make a smaple of 2 bass drum hits in qucik succession. That could equal the illusion of being faster.

I think you mean blast beats.

That's just a double-kick drum technique.

Follow the bass drum exactly if you want to be part of it.

True, Dragonforce's drummer uses them for this reason,so he only has to tap his drums to get the full sound, rather than do a proper hit, because at the speeds he plays at, his technique isnt there to get proper hits.

Mind you, the Same could be said of the Berzerker, but then Ive seen footage of their drummer playing their songs on an acoustic kit.

no i mean a bass blast, i know about blast beats i mean like an enormous amount of bass in a song. not like steady just one giant atomic hit of bass.
and if it is in the mixing does anyone know where i could download such a blast?
