Hardcore punk never happened. As it doesn't exist now, we can debate whether it existed at all in the first place.

There is still bands that play music similar to the hardcore of the 80s, yes.

I don't see it at as debatable. Of course there was bands in the 80s who played music that was called hardcore-punk, it was called that then and it is called that now.

Sure it is. You're just looking in the wrong places. That's like saying punk doesn't exist anymore when it clearly does. People just don't want to admit that things have changed a bit in the past; sure we need to stick to the roots but change is inevitable.

Also if you don't think Hardcore Punk existed, I tip my hat to you for being able to completely ignore a counter culture with 2 decades under it's belt.

If you want some good modern hardcore punk check out http://www.derangedrecords.com and listen to some to some of their bands.

As would I, but I'd take modern hardcore over modern hardcore-punk in the styles of the 80s. I like it, but some of it just isn't as good as the orginial 80s bands or the modern hardcore bands. Career Suicide and ****ed Up are fun though.

But many others have said it before you. It's a common complaint by punks (one I used to use myself) who have some sort of hatred for modern hardcore, but feel the need to love 80s hardcore and bring it up.

Ghostfire3

Oh, I see. I didn't mean to be hating on current Hardcore. I was just saying that 80s Hardcore is great stuff.

Speaking of which, what is everyone's opinion of this new trend? I am not really a fan of hardcore and I would like to know what you guys think.

I like some of it, and some I don't like at all.

Brain Toad

I used to hate modern hardcore. I thought it was ****ty and too metal influenced. Most of all I hated the vocals, the screaming and yelling was too much for me. But recently I grew to really like some of it. I don't like the extremely heavy bands that much and I still hate metalcore. But I've learned to love what's out there, especially the new posi bands and the melodic bands.

So if a proto-punk band was still playing you wouldn't call them proto-punk anymore?

If you want it to cover all basis, then modern hardcore is any band that is making hardcore right now.
