I am looking at selling a kit that I have jsut restored and am looking into buying an acrylic Vistalite set. I can buy all the pieces I want off of ebay. I was just wondering if anyone here owns or has played a set of acrylics and knows how they sound. I have also heard a lot of them crack but I was wondering if those were the old ones or if the news ones still do. Any info would be helpful.

nah they should be fine. THey shouldnt crack on you. Im pretty sure the only way thats gonna happen is if the lugs are too tight or something.

Yeh, I'm sure the problem is fixed. I have heard they sound really punchy :thumb:

Oh! I also heard they are rather hard to tune, but once they are tuned they sound amazing.

I don't know.
I think they must ring forever.
But again you have to be very very carefull with them.Scratches happen from nowhere

The first Ludwig Vistalites do tend to crack rather easy, but they have fixed that problem.

Sonor makes an X-ray kit that modern drummer reviewed two issues ago. They said that iit's extremely punchy, no mention of cracking though.

They sound pretty good. My girlfriends brother has the Bonham Vistalite set and it sounds gorgeous. With the right heads and if you keep it clean, then it always looks and sounds new.
