Cult TV shows are the best.

my favourites are The Young Ones , Red Dwarf and Lexx.

The young ones

http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/images/400/youngones_1.jpg

The Young Ones was a short lived series which paved/pioneered the way for alternate british comedy.

Its about Four University students living in a house together.

(Left to Right)

Vyvyan, Very Metal (Very Violent ; direct , brute and funny)
Rick, The People's Poet (A pompous wanker , we love to hate him)
Mike, The Cool Guy (A pretty boy ; vain but has all the cheesy lines)
Neil, The Hippie (A moping , unsure , confused , slow good hearted guy)

The comedy comes at you in all types ; slapstick ; rude toilet humour and sophisticated british witty jokes. The characters are great and work well with each other -- the clash beetween them is absolutely great.

They get into all sorts of mischief.

Each Show had a band playing including the awesome MOTORHEAD

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHECK THIS SHOW OUT

Red Dwarf

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9e/Red_dwarf_logo.png/300px-Red_dwarf_logo.png

The show is set 3 million years in the future in deep space, and revolves around the adventures of the crew of the Jupiter Mining Corporation's deep space vessel Red Dwarf. Primary characters in the show include Dave Lister,Arnold Judas Rimmer (a hologram of Dave's dead crew mate), the Cat (a humanoid descended from cats), Holly (the ship's computer with an IQ of 6000, 'the same IQ as 6000 PE teachers'), from series 2 Kryten (a 4000 series mechanoid) and from series 7, Kristine Kochanski (a version of Dave's ex-girlfriend, from a parallel universe).

Red Dwarf is more of a botique show you grow into. Once you get into it it consumes you.

Red Dwarf is kind of a spoof of sci-fi , but once you go past that it actually has some awesome sci fi concepts , its also a drama sitcom at times but it always comes back to being mainly a comedy though so keep that in mind.

once again its great british comedy. This show was and is a big underdog which proved the critics wrong and wrong over and over. They said a show like this would never be a commericial success. They were wrong. This show has run 8 series and has stood the test of time. Many Succesful books have been written for red dwarf (running at parrallels but not the same as the series) that is based on the show.
They is currently pre production for a movie using the original actors.

This is my absolute favourite show. check it out you might like it:thumb: Funny as hell and SO cool!

LEXX is a more straight and serious show. its very dark and weird and has student art film feel to it. Very adult themes. I would get more into it but im lazy.

OK those are my Cult Shows. Feel free to discuss/describe your favourites or mine or anyone elses , also post your fandom / appreciation of your cult shows:thumb:

I really liked Monkey Dust :) although sometimes the jokes were way too "omg look at how shocking we are with jokes about paedophilia and rape." Most of the time it was a really well-written and beautifully twisted show though.

Wanderlust was a good cult show. I can see 3rd Rock from the Sun being a cult show also.

Would you call Scrubs a cult show? It is over here anyway, they only show it after 11:30pm but it has a massive following, heaps of my friends have every episode on DVD or on their computer.

NO its certainly not Cult.

Its kind of a cult show. I would say its borderline but great nonetheless , certainly welcome to discuss it in here

"You're wrong and you're a grotesquely ugly freak."

Brass Eye, The Day Today and Garth Marenghi's Dark Place all rock my socks. And I think they fall under the cult banner.

Mr. Show with Bob and David

Bob Odenkirk and David Cross (Tobias from Arrested Development) had a sketch comedy show. Since it was on HBO, they could do pretty much whatever they wanted, so there are no lame SNL-style topical sketches or even commercial breaks. David Cross with evil eyes is in my avatar now!

"Mr. Pickles' Fun-Time Abortion Clinic: We bring out the kid in ya!"

"The Harvard Memory Loss Center, established in 1952, 1961, and for the first time in 1978."

Also has guest appearances from Jack Black and Maynard James Keenan, among others.

depends on whether you're british or not. it's not a cult show in britain - i don't know anyone who doesn't like it - but in america it perhaps is.

well, most people I know here fail to appreciate its awesomeness, so I suppose it qualifies in the US.

Monty Python is like The Simpsons in that lots of people watched/heard of it, but it also has a more devoted cult following. Ren and Stimpy was popular when it aired, so no. It's just a children's cartoon.

I was a big fan of Kenny Vs Spenny, but I don't think that was cult status.

Speaking of Canadian shows, I'd put Trailer Park Boys up there too.

You are obviously not very intelligent so there would be no point to explain this to you.

Lexx is awesome :thumb: at first look it appears as a crappy sci fi show, but if you watch it closely you realize there is actually a lot of deeper meanings behind the plot.

I am taking a liking to Firefly as well.
