Well, I'm having a dilemma. I have finally saved up enough money for a Pearl Eliminator. I was very happy with this decision, but i hadnt looked enough into other DBP. Then I heard about some weakness the ELim has, and now im leaning for the Yamaha Flying Dragons. So i need sonme help. Which one is Faster?? Which one is more durable? Overall, In your opinion, which one is a better choice for someone trying to play metal¿?

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Ok, .. a pedal isn't "fast" .. its only as fast as you play it. I personally beleive the flying dragons are better speed pedals then the elims, ... durable .. the dragons kick *** over the elims .. and overall the dragons kick so much ***, .. u'd be stupid not to choose them...

FD's IMO are a bit wobbly. I dont like the DWs. Ive had problems with ICs. I havent had a problem with Elims though.

But red cams on the elim make it better and smoother.

^^I've been on it since i know that yamaha made them .. i've playe don IC's and do regularily at band practise .. the DW's are nice .. but nothing compared to the sturdiness and adjustability of the FD's.

I never had a prob with my elim single pedal. I had that thing forever too. Tried Ic's and didnt like the double too much but liked the single. Tried the FD's and i liked them. Same with DW5000 and 9000. 9000 though IMO are overkill. 5000's are where its at. I have a 7000 though and i still like it. Cost efficient pedal and is good. You really need to try pedals out though because to drop that much money in them without playing them is way too much of a gamble and not worth it. Try b4 buy and youll be satisfied.

Save some $$ and pickup a DW 7000. Or if you'd like the industry standard, check out the DW 5000. Both are sure to please IMHO, but try before you buy!

Personally, I think they're all great pedals. I haven't tried the FD's, but I understand they're also high quality. When you get into the upper echelons of quality, one pedal isn't really better than another, it's more a case of feel.

On a seperate note, upon closer inspection, it surprised me that the DW 5000 is virtually unadjustable. To obtain a level of adjustability, you have to go to the DW 9000, whereas the Elimnators and Iron Cobras feature adjustable options in a price braket on a par with the 5000. Very odd.

Even though it's cool to ask others opinions your best bet is to play them all and choose the one you like the feel of best. They are all great pedals around this price point. I like the FD best, but that doesn't mean you will.

I agree... play them all and chose on your personal feel for them. Any of the top pedals will serve you well. (5000, 9000, FD, IC, PE, etc.)

DW 7000 FTW!! Seriously though I think its one of the smoothest and most comfortable pedals out there. I play heel down, so I dont like to fight my pedals, and the 7000 is really smooth and not hard to use.(plus you can save some money if you buy it.) It also has alot of great features(double chain drive, slotted stroke adjustment, footboard adjustment, etc.)

Try it before you buy it.

alright, here is what u do, u go to ur GC or ur Sam Ash or w.e, u try out all the pedals there, and u buy the one that suits YOU the best. now i personally own the double elim, and i love it to death, but that isn't to say flying dragons are bad pedals, far from it. just buy the one YOU LIKE THE BEST

I have owned Iron Cobra's, DW 9000's, DW 9002's, Eliminators, DW 5000's, and have played extensively on the Flying Dragons. ALL of these pedals are good pedals. The set of IC's I have is about 5 years old, have been played HARD core (they are my back up pedals) and still work flawlessly.

If people are having problems with pedals, it could be due to misuse, improper maintenance, or just a specific pedal problem.

The 9000's are the best pedals I have played, they are expensive tho. If I was going to list these in order of purchase, here is how I would list em.

9000's, 5000's, IC's, Eliminators, Yamaha's.

Yamaha both for quallity and price.Dw are also great pedals but the 9000 series pedals are overpriced.

And if you could get 9000's for cheaper brand new than 5000's, IC's and Elim's sell for?
