I'm thinking of re-heading my kit completely and really do not know which to choose between these. Can you give me opinions and suggestions? Cheers
Doesn't matter which one you choose...It'll both sound good.

Evans. They are the same head basically, but everyone has their preference. Mine is Evans. G2 Coated over G1 Clear. Genera Dry over Hazy 300. EMAD over EQ3 Black.

I havn't played Evans, don't plan on it.
Havn't played Sabian, Don't plan on it.
Personally Remo and Zildjian give me what I need and so much more.

Yeah Remo for me. My drum teacher was endorsed by both... he went back to Remo. They are both good heads, but durability wise, Remo's two-ply skins last longer then G2's...In his experience with using g2s, he said they crack easily

I'm not fussed, ive got Remo heads on my snare and Evans on my toms and bass.
i have remo on bass and snare and evans on my toms. I have g2s and they have been on there for about 6 months now and I have not had a problem with them yet.

Ive never had problems with either.....................except Remo coating
the only remo coating that isnt great is on the ambs.

nah ...........I had issue with brushes on emperors leaving heavy marks first time.
I had my kit decked out with Coated G1's the local store ran out of 1ply coateds of all brands (i dont shop there no more) had to replace my floor tom with a coated emperor (all they had)
played with brushes all around the kit and the emperor had big black scratch/grime/grease marks all over it first time i played on it while my other evans tom heads were very clean.
only an aesthetics issue as it did not affect the sound at all.

Coated Remo emperors over clear dips is what i have at the moment on my toms. They're great! i love 'em! i'd reccommend that.

I have tried both and I believe the coating on the g2's lasted a lot longer... the sound is hardly any difference at all. I can't tell the difference anyway. Evans mate :thumb:

I've never had any problems with remos coated heads with chipping or anything. And so I say Remo.

Aquarian Pwns all though. Satin Texture Coated... So Nice.

Same here, the Evans coating is just better.
Most people argue Remo sounds better though.

Neither in my opinion, i'd go with Amb's over Amb's but out of those two emps

It doesn't make sense that the two ply heads would be weak but the one ply heads wouldn't be in comparison. It's just biased people making statements.

yes biased ppl making statements that are FACT.
it is a FACT that EVANS 2ply top plies split easily.
...and it makes total sense.

I've played on Evans 2 ply heads (Clear G2s on all my toms) for 3 years and I've never split a head...

bah ~ in that case, leave the endurance testing to the hard hitters then :p
you dont mean the same heads for 3 years do you?
Ethan.

Aquarian Double Thins are a brilliant idea -- a thinner two ply head.

No, no of course not! I have just never really strayed from my G2s.
Plus, I'm not exactly light on my drums :naughty:. Maybe we should leave the endurance testing to those with proper technique!! Just kidding ;). I'm sure your technique is great.

I love Remo, so I'd say them. For me its Remo and Zildjian. My favorite head which has gotten a small little devoted following is the Suede Emperor. Anyone who wants to try something new, try these! they are deep and warm, you can used brushes, but they are not as dry and cracy as coated heads. Really, next time you change heads consider these.

no1 can really state for a fact that evans coating is 'better' since better is a biased term. i wonder where are the ones to come and defend remo sounding warmer? (haha i made a typo and realized r+emo = remo..). im one of those people! :p

each brand has their own pros and cons, overall one is not universally better than the other.
it just depends on what you want out of your heads.
