I have had my kit about 2 1/2 months and no ride and I am getting tired of my Paiste pst 3 hats. So Next moth I am upgrading to 14" Istanbul Sultan Hi-Hats,
and I am torn between 22" Sultan Ride and the 22" Alchemy Rock ride. I still have time to decide but I can wait!!!!!!! Istanbuls

Yea I am sticking with Istanbuls. I want a versitile ride and the guy I have been talking with told me the Sultan ride was a good choice. Then He also recommended the rock ride. I described what i wanted and he pointed me to those 2.

Shat na :p....Bosphorus all the way. Only reason ive got a trad agop crash is cuz it was at a bargain of a price.

You say you are stickign with them.. yet you've never heard them and are going off what other people say.

You need to LISTEN to the things before you buy them. Be it ZIldjian, UFIP, or whoever.. buying blind is just retarded. You have to listen to them, make sure it's really the sound you want.

Sound is not text.

Unless the cymbal is in nearly prestine condition and the price of it is well below the retail half price, then mayb you could make an exception!

I get a satisfaction gaurantee so no harm done. Plus I like the hand hammered sound.

Or, since he gets a satisfaction guarantee, he can just order them and go with them if he likes them. If not, send them back. ;)

Personally, I'd go Sultan.

I need to get me an Istanbul ride, maybe an Agop 20". It'll make a nice partner for my RBDR. Create a bigger sound palette, etc.

yea, that's true. keep in mind every cymbal company has "hand hammered" cymbals.

For the record, I doubt there's more then 5-10 people on the earth who could tell the difference between actual hand hammering, and maching controlled hammering.

I know you really cant tell the difference and I have tried hats and rides from Sabian, Zildjian, and Paiste any thing that I can get my hands on in the few music stores we have and I could not find one I liked. I have heard the Sultan hats before know someone who has them and I love them, so I am kinda going by that. Also there is just something about every cymbal being made by hand, just so unique and how usually no 2 sound alike.
