I find most of their songs have pretty solid basslines but you may as well just start on anything from the first album.

LA Woman has an actual bass part in it, so good choice. the intro to Light my fire transposes well to bass, and the main riffs of Love me two times and break on through are instantly recognizable on bass.

The last album by the doors, in which they put music to Morrison's poems, have some extremely cool basslines.

How about Peace Frog, I believe it's from Morrison Hotel.

The best thing about the Doors is that 99% of the times if you hit a e, you'll be on the right note....:amaze:

they have amazing bass lines on all their songs. Manzcerics (the spelling changes and so does my interpretation of it over the last 15 years) ostinato grooves on the fender rhodes or jerry scheff and many other bass players over the years all kick arse.
Favourites for me are break on through the spy hyacinth house many others

Woman and waiting for the sun to rise. a few of the song dont have bass and i think 1 has upright and acoustic. but they all have good lines. i love the doors basslines no matter the sescion player there alweays good. but jerry scheef has tio be my favorite.

Indeed.
One that I really like is "Love Me Two Times." Simple, but powerful.

Didn't most of their songs not have a bassplayer? Just a keyboard with a bass pedal?

They almost always had a studio bassist on the albums
however, on stage they didn't use a bass player and the organ picked up the basslines

Hm, I never knew that...

Roadhouse Blues is also a cool bass song. You pretty much hold down the main rif through the virses and go into a walking bassline in the chorus.

its not an organ but a Fender Rhodes Bass Piano (electric piano, bass range) also they quite often had a bass player on some songs but Manzceric recorded morst of the bass lines on his fender rhodes (with the exception of LA Woman and Morrison Hotel which have Lonnie Mac and Jerry Scheff
