Hello fellow MXers.
I currently have a Cort Action Bass(that has passive EMG's) I want to turn it into an Active bass and put my old pups in an older bass. The cort does not have much room for a battery, therefore I will need to make room.
Is this a good idea in the first place? (Passive to Active)
Does anybody know if cutting out parts of the bass is hard to do, and still make it look good?
Should I put a battery box in it? if so, where?
-Or should I just throw the battery in the electronics cavity?
http://www.cort.com/basses/action/index.html
Theres a link to the bass that im workin with.
Thanks for your help.

Try your best to fit it in the electronics cavity, avoid cutting the wood as much as possible. Ive heard from fellow MXer's that it toys with the acoustic nature of the bass??

wouldent less wood mean better acoustics?
- isnt that why they have hollow body guitars?

It would but only superman would be able to tell a difference.
Nopicks- its depends how much room you have in the back and how many knobs you will need.
You might have enough room to putin the pre amp, but you might need to drill more holes for some more knobs depending upon what you want.

Wait are we talking about active preamps or pickups? because id assume that active pickups would be alot more expensive.

i think you need a preamp for the active pups to work properly.

a passive pup with an active preamp works well. so if you want, go that route.

ive done that with my old ibeanez but i really wanna go all the way this time
i also just put the battery just inside the pickguard, i really found tohat to be a pain. so i am really leaning toward a thing to actually hold my batteries in a different cavity.

then wait to get the active pups and the preamp and do it together.
