If you would have bought my Marcus Miller, I never would have got this.
Seriously though, You'll love the one your getting. They are very nice basses.
Now for the whole story on the new bass:
Many of you wonder why I go through so many basses so quickly. Tone, the ultimate search for tone, that is the answer. Unfortunately, rarely does a bass sound the same at home or in your band setting than it does at the music store. Why is that? Different amp (better or worse than your own), Different speakers (same as amp), different room setup (size, carpet, etc), and many other differences. So, you may think you found the tone just to get it home and find you can't seem to replicate that exact same tone.
That brings us to my newest acquisition. I actually got to try this bass at home, since it was my next door neighbor's bass. He is a Jazz bass nut and has always wanted a Marcus Miller Jazz. When he found out I had one, he offered me this bass in trade. I tried her out in all 3 of my amps and was quite impressed. It has been modified a bit. It has EMG J/P active pickups and an EMG BTC EQ in it. It's all running on 18 volts. She still produces the killer growl these basses are noted for, but can also get nice and mellow.
Here she is. It's a 1997 Warwick Fortress R&B

the fortress is so UN warwick... its not funny.
Let's see, you constantly bash Warwick for quality control problems and constantly praise your MM sig for it's amazing amazingness; so what do you do? You trade your MM sig for a Warwick.
Alright. It's ugly as hell, too.

True, but this Warwick was made in 1997 and the neck is great on this one, plus it doesn't have the MEC electronics in it. Those were the 2 major things I've seen develope in to problems on Warwicks.

i could never imagine JP playing a warwick.....that's odd.
i hate the look of the fortress though, i would never play it even if it sounded as well as you claim

1997... i.e. thinner neck... i.e. wenge neck.... i.e. hand-built..... i.e. sex. Not a fan of the EMG or the P, but still, sex all the same

The color is pure sex, though.

It has recessed strap locks. You can just barely see the one on the lower part of the body in the last picture.

It looks cruddy with the chrome hardware and the red finish, put black hardware on and sand the finish off and give it a tung oil stain and we might be talking.

Well JP, it isn't a Kubicki, how could it possibly sound good?
yeah, unless your bass resembles a large, anal-reaming device used in homosexual pornography, it's a "piece of crap."
KUBICKI FTW LOLZ.

...did you even look at that upper horn on the Fortress?
Yeah, Jorge and I are just a few of the people that like the looks of these basses. I think it's a cool deal. I expect some more mods though.
yes, we're all aware of the fallice-like qualities of the horn on a Fortress, and most other Warwicks...although, i'd still consider them relatively hetero. Kubickis on the other hand, are the epitome of FLAMING.
