So i got that Trace 15... im making payments on... a Sting H(H), and now i need to do more for my tone....
I went to Guitar Center Ready to purchase a BBE and a Tech21 Sans Amp RBI. When i got there, they told me they dont sell tech21 stuff, and the BBE just makes me louder, in a sense.
So i ask him what about EQs.
He Points me to one 15 Band DBX, which he'll give me for 139. original 150.
Then I Spy a 30 Bands for 200, which i am intrested in because i tend to pull a Tim C. and Run 2 rigs at once.
But the dbx 15 is this one
http://www.dbxpro.com/215.htm
the 30 is this one
http://www.dbxpro.com/231.htm
the also showed me something by behringer...
the Ultra curve it was like 299
Im not sure which one it is its one of these 2.
http://www.behringer.com/DEQ1024/index.cfm?lang=ENG
http://www.behringer.com/DSP8024/index.cfm?lang=ENG
and he's gonna throw in a Road Gear 6 space if i grab the 30 band dbx.
I forgot to ask him about the noise cancelling ****.... but im thinking NOW i might need to get a bigger rackspace case like 10 or something.
Because Im going to be running
2 head = 4 spaces
1 eq.
a Noise canceller.
I also checked on some Bartolini 59 J1 L/S CBJD Set
When i get those put in im going to see if i can get them to make me a pickguard out of wood and stain it to match my fretboard...
also... check out the guy i play with.

new track coming, with me on it "The Wrong Thing" please send me an invite if you do check him out.

This is just my personal experience talking here, your results may vary, but this was my spin on this type of thing:
There was a time when I was doing the same thing as you. I had nice basses, a nice amp, but for whatever reason decided to arbitrarily build a rack that looked like it should have been in the Terminator movies. I had a noise gate, compressor, 31-band EQ, digital modeling preamp, 2-space rack drawer... all in addition to an SWR 8004 T/O/P head. I used all that gear along with an SWR 750X and even a Gallien-Krueger 2001RB. Ultimately once I started getting rid of gear was when my tone started improving more dramatically.
My suggestion to you is this: Instead of buying tons of accessories and rack gear, find a preamp that has the tone you like built-in. For me it was an Avalon U5, for you it could be........ who knows. As I said, your results may vary. Good luck :thumb:

How Do I pay?
Well, my dad gives me an allowance, 400 a month to go to college, because he wanted me to focus just on school.
I did have a job, and i have a pretty tight wallet, so ive saved money from my old job, and i am now a manager of a store in the mall i make a good bit of money, and i dont work much, this new job is for pocket money alcohol, going out to eat graanted i dont spend like 500+ dollars every 2 weeks to go hang out with my friends, id say 200 is about right and even thats to much. so most of it gets saved..
Ive been giving lessons for 2 months.
for people who arent good about svaing money, guitarcenter allows you to do monthly payments, which is a good way to make sure u are going to get what u want, and not 'accidently spend it' when i was younger i did that quite frequently.
You have to remember im in 21 years old... so ya know im not a kid.
EDGE:
Well, ill tell you what... im a tone nut... i want to play Loud, and i want the tone to be what i want... Im looking for mid range for my Bands tone, when i play with singers i use a more warm low sound. And the fact that i do jump around alot, is why im looking at that behringer, because i can set the presets... and hit them when i want... I love that feature. Im not into selling gear... but i am into buying used gear. So I dont see myself selling anything... As i build my second rig, and start recording more I wont be using the ampeg rig, i'll just use the EQ and Preamp(if i do buy one).

^^^I'm definitely not saying you shouldn't buy what you want, far from it. I just think you could likely accomplish the same thing with far less gear. Honestly, whatever works for you though.

^^^Ah, but I never purchased that bass. It was purchased for me by relatives. They went to a music store, and told the clerk I was (at the time) a 20 year old bassist, and the guy talked them into the Hoppus bass because of my age presumably.

For a 20 year old? I can see the salesman talking them into it if you were like 13, but dang.

I'm pretty happy, last night I plugged in my bass to the computer and just recorded some stuff. Today I played it back and loved the tone of my bass....that was a nice surprise.
