ok, here's me playing in my room on a normal day, when suddenly, i hear a pop and my bass stops working....I'm on passive mode so it can't be the battery, and i checked 4 other cables so it's not the cable. it just happened so suddenly,
also it's not the amp, because i can hear a signal when i touch the cable
could my bass have shorted out!? is that even possible?!?!?
thanks in advance:confused:

unscrew look at the control plate/area of the bass , same thing happened to me, the connection to the jack had come undone, and had to be re-soldered

Not sure, my guess is just constant play, and pulling the cable out after playing.

Did the nut ever come loose around the input jack? Did you ever tighten it? If so, you may have twisted the wires inside until they eventually broke. I did that on my Rogue back in the diz-ay.
Word.

ok just got back from my friend's house (hes got a soldering iron and experience) and we fixed it, and it was dirt easy and didn't cost a dime...everything's alright now.....i guess it happened from me turning the washer outside the jack clockwise because it kept getting loose....turns out i was turning the entire jack, thus ripping the wire.....so we re-soldered and tightened the washer so it won't get loose
edit: didn't read anyones post after SLKbassist

yeah a lot of people don't realize that when when they're tightening the nut on the input, they should take the whole input plate off so they can tighten it up without twisting and ruining the wires.
