I was wondering, what are some wide necked 5 stringers, roughly about 19mm string spacing? I've been toying with the idea of converting one into a six string, to equal out to roughly 15mm spacing....
I played a four stringer at guitar center with the spacing of 15mm, and everything I played on it felt way way easier. I've looked around for a mass produced six with string spacing like that, but I have not been able to find one.
Thanks for your time

Modulus Wide Q5.
Warwicks make wide necked basses as well.

Yamaha makes some basses with monster necks as well.

Are you sure that conversion would work? I think I remember JP or someone arguing a case against converting 5ers into 6ers, something about neck tension or something. Arrgh it's vague but I do remember it.

I have no idea if it will work, I've just been toying with the idea, as in no way can I afford a custom shop anytime soon, and after experiencing the tight string spacing, it makes me not want to go back to my sixer anymore

BTB's have rather wide string spacing. I think Tune also has a really widely spaced 6er you should check out.

Just try harder to find a 6 string with tight spacing.. It'll pay off..

You can get broadneck 5's, they're 20mm spacer's.

Yeah, if I've got the info right you can't change a normal 5 string bass into a 6 string unless the 5 string neck had a dual truss rod, if it doesn't the neck will be seriously damaged.

Just as a suggestion, if the only reason you're not playing a 6 is the spacing, check out the ibanez SR series.
SR506 is either 16 or 16.5mm spacing, rather tight.
Or you could always get a Fender Bass VI (the 6 string guitar tuned an octave lower thingy). Surely that would have tight enough spacing ^_^
Have you had a look at the Cort Artisan A6
I owned the 5 string version and found the neck to be a fair bit "thinner" than other 5ers, plus the advantage is that you can adjust the spacing at the bridge, to a point.
(the Cort & Warwick whore strikes again)

With the costs/hastle of switching it to a 6-string bridge and nut, you might as well get a 6-string. Just my thought.

Ah, it seems it would be a bit too much hassle to deal with it then. Ill just have to keep my eyes peeled for one, and stick with mine I have now.
It's a cort curbow six, it plays well enough, just the body as well, too tiny, and uncomfortable

Those Yamaha 6'ers (TRB1006?) have tight spacing. I think they're 16mm..
It might be the Patittucci model i'm thinking of though.

19x5÷6 = 15.83... closer to 16mm.
If you want 15mm spacing, 18x5÷6 = 15.
What four string has 15mm spacing by the way? I've never heard of that.

BTB = 5 stringers with wide spacing and dual truss rod.
