God of War Help

I just got God of War today and Im stuck on the Medussa battle. She turns me to stone and an icon showing the analog stick appears. I apparantly have to shake the analog stick, but I never break free in time. Do I have to shake both analog sticks or just one. Also any other tips for this battle would be helpful.

Its based on greek methology. The gods call upon the main character to defeat an army of deamons or something. I just got it today so I dont know the full story yet. I love it and I just got it a few hours ago. Its a greatest hit now so its only $20.

if you are having trouble at this stage in the game, you're in for some real difficulty.

use the analog stick and continuously roll out of the way and when her gaze wanes, attack her. when those analog motions come up, simply do them.

I usually play gun based games (everthing from GTA to Halo) for the most part because Im pretty bad at games like this.

I have another problem. Im at the part right before the Architect's Tomb and I have to swing across this giant gap beofre I can get there. No matter what I do, I fall short and miss the rope. Any recommendations for getting to the other side?
