We Were Soldiers
The Patriot

Can't think of anymore :-/

i liked we were soldiers the first time i watched it but then i learned what had really happened, and it turns out that the movie is ****ing biased towards the United States and only showed the first half of the battle where it looked like the Americans had won, they didnt show the 2nd half where the vietnamese came bac and owned them and won the battle.
the movie is too biased.

Saving Private Ryan
The Deer Hunter
Apocaylpse Now
The Killing Fields
The Bridge On The River Kwai

Honourable mentions go to Full Metal Jacket, The Thin Red Line, Platoon, Born On The Fourth Of July, Schindler's List and The Pianist.

I know that not all of those films involve the actual battlefield to a great degree, but war plays a big part in all of their stories.

i've started to dislike war movies
they seem generic and biased
there are some war movies that go beyond being simply a war movie
and tackle the psychological aspects of the human psyche
in likely what is its most intense test

"apocalypse now" is the best
"full metal jacket" and "the deer hunter" are also excellent

I just really liked it when I saw it (must've been a couple of years ago now). It seems like a love it or hate it film though. I mean, everyone I know who's seen it either hates it or loves it at least.

Apocalypse Now (original cut, all the added stuff in the Redux only makes the movie worse)

The book makes a good read, better than the film.

As for war films I really like, I can only think of Apocalypse Now. Black Hawk Down was ok, but it got pretty tedious really. I need to watch some more war films.

Seriously, it's like saying "why did they show the part where the soldiers won, because everyone knows in about 40 years they die of old age, i mean come on, its biased".
