I couldn't find a thread on the Subhumans and I've really been digging them lately so I thought I'd make a thread. All righty.
The Subhumans are an anarcho band from the UK. Known for outspoken politics and comparing present society to an Orwellian dystopia, they were one of the most important bands in the 1980s punk scene. Members of the band are:
Dick Lucas: Vocals
Grant Jackson: Bass (1980-1983)
Phil: Bass (1983-)
Bruce: Geetar
Trotsky: Drums
Dick Lucas had formerly been in The Mental and Stupid Humans, and after the band split up some members went on to form Culture Shock and Citizen Fish. They occaisonally reform to go on tour (which they currently are), and had a live DVD made in 2004. Their greatest hit, No, from The Day the Country Died is one of punk's greatest anthems and they've influenced many, many bands. Recommended listening is No, Mickey Mouse is Dead, Religious Wars, Apathy, and Subvert City.
So here we discuss the Subhumans. I'm going to see them next weekend, with World/Inferno Friendship Society, A Global Threat, and Born/Dead. Should be fun. Let me know if I left anything out of the fred.

Subhumans is an anarcho band from the UK.
You can still use "the" on the latter one, but don't capitalize it.
And the Canadian one is better.

The Canadian ones were terrorists too. Uber-punk.
[SUB][HUM][ANS] as I believe they like to be called, are good. Apathy's my favourite song, but I Civilisation Street by Culture Shock is my favourite Dick Lucas song.

God damn, that was an awesome show. Born/Dead were nothing special, but World/Inferno were spectacular, so much energy. A Global Threat was entertaining, they got the pit going a lot faster.
Then the Subhumans. Man oh man, they're still great live. The ran through the usual favourites, apathy, no, subvert city, etc. Dick's political ramblings weren't too bad, they sort of added to the music rather than detracted from it, they are anarcho after all. And unlike most singers that have been around for 20 years, he can still sing as good as he ever could.
