Hi everyone~
I'm seeking software to do one simple thing: create fade-ins and fade-outs on already recorded demos. It must be free and work with Windows XP. Any advice?
Thanks!

You can do it on audacity. I dont know if you can adjust the degree of fading.....let me check. Well as far as I see you cant, unless theres a secret. But I selected the last few seconds of the wave and it sounded fine. You may have to undo a few times to get the right feel. Try it.

You can also do it manually by adjusting the envelopes of the tracks with greater precision.
This will also let you maintain the original file's volume throughout and have a virtual fade, like you'd see in professional software
