I've listened to them for a while, and now that there is a forum, why not talk about them?
I generally stay away from pop-rock but there is something about them that I really like, not quite sure what it is though.

Well do you like Grunge/Nirvana? Maybe it's because of Dave Grohl's songwriting that you like the Foo Fighters. They're not half-bad, they're latest album is wonderful.

Dave Grohl has an amazing voice, and range.
There are songs like monkey wrench and breakout which have the 'shouty' parts, and then there are songs like times like these which have the more relaxed singing.
I think Dave grohl is what makes an otherwise mediocre band.

actually, i really don't like nirvana at all. That's why it's odd that i like the Foos.

Haha, that's wierd. What bands do you like that could draw similarity to Dave's voice?

Daves voice is completely unique IMO. Thats why i think the foos are good.
I mean, its not that the other members are bad, i just don't think they do anything so different.

I don't think it is really. It has range, I'll give you that. Yet, I hear the same type of, I don't honestly know how to put it, "scratchiness" in his voice that Kurt Cobain always had, If you know what I mean.

His voice may not sound all that different from others, but how his voice gets his heartfelt messages across is second to none.

I don't listen to this band but my brother does. I am intrigued by their acousitc album, I heard it was very good. Can anyone verify this?

I use to love them but recently I've just found them unlistenable. I really dislike the new stuff.

Me too.
Dave have a good voice but IMO sounds **** live.
I still listen to them, but their older tunes where much better, although there were a couple of top quality songs on the new album, i was completely unimpressed with the acoustic side though, minus 'Razor' which i think is beautiful.

Yeah, I think he's terrible at singing live. I saw a few live vids on Kerrang! and it really pissed me off how much he went "Woah-yeah". Maybe it was just that song though.
Yeah i hate that, the whole "Woah-yeah, here we go" thing he does, and yeah he does it quite a bit.

The first two Foo albums were amazing then they went downhill with each album. In Your Honor is a pretty boring album, both electric and acoustic discs. Though it does have some very good songs- End Over End, No Way Back, Razor.

I used to listen to the Foo Fighters a lot. Not so much anymore though.
Either way, cool band.

I've never really liked them that much. I disagree with Dave Grohl having an amazing voice, he doesn't really vary his voice a lot.
Most of their songs go like this:
Dave Grohl talk-singing.
Dave Grohl shout-singing.
Dave Grohl talk-singing.
Dave Grohl shout-singing. (chorus)
etc
They are very repetitive in their formula, and I personally think Dave Grohl has been using less and less variation in his voice as time has gone on. He does have passion though.

I can listen to a few songs by them, but I find it hard to get interested in them. I'm not saying they're bad, but they can't really hold my interest.

I like them somewhat. Have seen them four times. They seem to have devolved into something of a standard hard rock act as of late, though. And that great sound they had on the first three albums is pretty much gone. I understand artist need to move on, but I just question how much they care these days, as tiny steps back creatively seems to be the way they're going in recent years.

I really like the foo fighters, but their newest album was just disapointing.
There's nothing left to loose is my fav.
The earlier material is really, really good. The new stuff is crap.

I think their old stuff is awesome but their new stuff is still pretty good. I think their an awesome band, maybe its just Dve Grohl though because I love Nirvana.

For the most part, I'd agree, but I thought Best Of You was probably one of the best (halfway successful) singles of last year.

I think Best of You was a serious dissapointment.

I haven't actaully heard the new album. I have theres nothing left to lose, the colour and the shape and one by one.
By what people have been saying the new album isn't worth listening to.

I love the Foo Fighters.
"... There is nothing left to loose" is the ONLY album I own I wouldn't skip a song on.
I'm unlike most Foo fans, as I dislike "The Colour and the Shape", and I really liked "One by One". Haven't heard the selftitled, and I'm a bit indifferent to the new CD; it's not as consistant as the earlier, and I could never get into the acoustic album, which I was looking forward to.
how could anyone not like everlong

Quite easily. Music is subjective, we all like different things.

I really dig their singles, it's too bad the rest of their albums tend to be sub-par.

I wouldnt consider the Foo Fighters Pop/Rock by any means. But then again, the amount of airplay they get could file them under that genre.
I saw these guys back in October with Weezer, that was a pretty great show. I have all thier CD's exept thier self titled, which I'm not in a hurry to get anytime soon. Thier new CD isnt that bad, not as good as There Is Nothing Left To Lose.
Favs: Stacked Actors, Everlong, End Over End, Times Like These, Halo, Generator, Live-In Skin, Cold Day In The Sun, My Hero

I know my guitarist is heavily into them. From what I've heard, they're not half bad. Grohl seems to be a good songwriter.
I almost saw them with Weezer and Hot Hot Heat, but then one of my friends messed up the whole thing. Haven't forgiven him for that yet.

Ahem...
Taste is subjective. And many people have none.
Music is not completely subjective. A whole bunch of rules apply to it. Even in it's more simpler forms. If it is subjective, gimme a kazoo because a sucker is born every minute. :)

I'll be seeing them at Hyde Park this summer.
Great live band they are :D.
To be honest though, I can't stand the first Foos album really, The Colour and the Shape and One by One do it for me.

They def. seem to be one of the better pop-rock bands. I mean, they actually have talent and kind of have a nice clean sound.

And they can play their instruments unlike most pop-rock bands.

I have their last three releases and I really enjoy them. I saw them last november in Brisbane and they were great but it was pretty much the Dave Grohl show with cameos by Taylor. Neither Nate or the guitarist talked they stood there and played.
