Quick cymbal question

i'm going to a store today, i have $500 and i am planning to get a cymbal set + a bag. Is a set of Sabian pro Sonix (hi-hat, ride, crash) a good option? what do you think? :confused:

through this data i'm going to conclude that you have arms. so try out all the cymbals!!! the bag is a good thing, but it should never be the deciding factor in buying.

Prosonix is crap. Get AAX/AA or A/A Custom. $500 is enough for atleast hats, ride, and maybe crash.

it might be a better idea to combine ideas. go to the store, try everything out. write down what you like, and if possible, the store's price quotes. then go home and shop around online. then make the best possible purchase.

Hell yeah. Normally I try out stuff at GC and go home and order it from MassMusic and save about $40 a cymbal.

And seriously, if you have $500 to spend you shouldn't even be looking at prosonix. You should be looking at pro level cymbals no matter how good anyone says prosonix are.

Prosonix is crap

You couldn't be more wrong about the Sonix. They are amazing cymbals for the price, much better than some of the other series out there.

Yes the Pro/Prosonix set is great, had them myself, upgrading now to Paiste sigs and AA/AAx's but I'd use the money to get maybe some great hats or a ride.

Well no, prosonix are great, but Vaults are like a better version. I think you'll be better off with an AAX pack.

well we have quite a poor selection here, out of 4 stores i was at, i found a couple of zildjian k's, a bunch of paiste pst3/pst5/201, zildjian zxt's, meinl cymbals (btw what lines are good?); but eh, i don't know. there's still one store which i think has zildjian a's, but i doubt they have sets. and plus i can't buy stuff from internet yet. : /

K's are nice, as with th pst5 line? Not as good as K's but their nice. Byzance and Amun from Meinl are good, Also like their Johnny Rabb, Thomas Lang series ( More for electric music). Stay away from zxt's and zbts and other lines. Infact negotiate through the forum first before doing anything.. irrational.

No need to get a set. Just get cymbals you like. It might save you a couple dollars to get the SET but it doesn't come with the perfect cymbals you would want....
