Hey, what about Hüsker Dü ? I was looking for a thread in order to discuss this great band but I found nothing. Well, here it is.
Last week I completed my HD Cd collection and I have to say that I'm really impressed on account of their diversity and their catchy "pop-appeall".
But you have also to admit that all of their efforts contain some bad songs you want to skip immediately.
I'd like to present my first idea of a "Best of"-CD which hopefully will prove HD's greatness to all of my friends.
1. Hüsker Dü - Something I Learned Today (2:02)
2. Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising (2:33)
3. Hüsker Dü - Chartered Trips (3:39)
4. Hüsker Dü - I Don't Know for Sure (2:30)
5. Husker Du - First of the last calls (2:50)
6. Hüsker Dü - Games (4:03)
7. Husker Du - Deadly skies (1:48)
8. Hüsker Dü - Everything Falls Apart (2:14)
9. Hüsker Dü - Ice Cold Ice (4:23)
10. Hüsker Dü - If I Told You (2:08)
11. Hüsker Dü - Let's Go Die (1:54)
12. Hüsker Dü - Indecision Time (2:14)
13. Hüsker Dü - In a Free Land (2:53)
14. Hüsker Dü - Never Talking to You Again (1:40)
15. Hüsker Dü - Monday Will Never Be the Same (0:53)
16. Hüsker Dü - Whatever (3:52)
17. Hüsker Dü - Punch Drunk (0:30)
18. Hüsker Dü - Friend, You've Got to Fall (3:20)
19. Hüsker Dü - I'll Never Forget You (2:19)

No Turn on the News?
Husker Du rock. Zen Arcade is one of the best albums of the eighties in my opinion. Just give your friends of a copy of that instead of a 'Best of'.

Husker Du are the sex, one of the best bands of the eighties. I found that they're kinda like the '80s Velvet Underground; underappreciated in their prime, but more respected and influential to other musicians later on.
I don't have Zen Arcade, unfortunately....but I have New Day Rising, which is still good, especially the title track.

Yeah, I just downloaded Husker Du not that long ago, and was really impressed. Zen Arcade (only album I've listened to so far) is just awesome.

A truly amazing band. I have New Day Rising, Zen Arcade, and Metal Circus and I love them all.

New Day Rising is better anyways.

I used to have New Day Rising but it got lost the last time I switched computers. Now I've just got Zen Arcade, Land Speed Record and Flip Your Wig.

Exactly what genre would Husker Du fall under?

80s hardcore/post-hardcore

I was listening to Candy Apple Gray just yesterday
Anyway, Husker Du are possibly my favorite band at the moment, and are up with my favs of all time. Zen Arcade is one of the most sublime records i've ever heard. Their other albums are (for the most part) also great, but nothing tops Zen Arcade.
I saw Bob Mould live about 2 months ago, and he was great too. Although i'd heard rumors that Brendan Canty was part of his backing band, and these rumors turned out to be false, which is a shame cos Brendan is one of my favorite drummers.
FOLK-LORE!

I also recently learned all the songs on Zen Arcade were recorded in one take, except for 2.

Zen Arcade was there best album, hands down. its so original and diverse. i feel like im being enlightened when im listening to it. i have to say though, there later stuff turns me off a bit, too poppy and rocky. not as good as their earlier harder stuff. but New Day Rising, Everything Falls Apart, and Metal Circus are great. Flip Your Wig is ok. nothing beats Zen Aracade.
and Turn On The News should of definately been on that list. #1 in fact :P

I listened to Zen Arcade. It was definintely a good and interesting album on a few different levels, but there's something about this genre that just doesn't appeal to me. It's interesting music, but boring at the same time if that makes any sense.

I love that they used to play "Pride" and, stupid homosexual skinhead punkers, not realising its gay pride message used to sing along!

Good plan. Zen Arcade demands repeated listens though in my opinion, especially if you're not familiar with this sort of music. It's genius will shine through in the end.
