What do you all think are the most important rack procces to go with a PA?
i'm planning on setting one up including a gate, compressor, a feedback destroyer....

anything else?

that seems a pretty good setup, maybe a reverb unit and/or multi fx?

One thing that might be worth looking into would be a DSP (Digitial Signal Processor FYI) my personal favorite is the dbx Driverack PA. It has feedback elminator, EQ, compressor, and a gate, like you were looking for, but it also has a sub-harmonic synth, limiters, 2x6 crossover, and a parametric EQ. Another beautiful feature, an RTA, pink noise generator, and a measurement mic input. In other words, it can EQ your room, for you. It's not as nice as having a 6 foot rack full of gear, but with the sound you get, it's worth the image loss. Check it out:

My rack has a Furman power conditioner, a dbx Driverack PA, two more dbx 166XL compressors (for vocals and sometimes kick), a Yamaha SPX2000 (for all my reverb needs). This rack does pretty much everything I need from DJ work to playing my own little shows, to church on sunday, to large concerts, it pretty much will do it all. The only time I really devitate from this is when I'm running something like a three-way stereo mix, then I put the Driverack into the amp rack backstage, makes the cable runs much easier.
