I have slowly started to upgrade my cymbals. I've got the Paiste 2002 16'' Crash and Paiste 2002 17'' Rock Crash for left/right crashes, I've got the Sabian XS20 14'' HiHat (it was a gift from my girlfriend, so I'll have to stick with it for a while, not that it matters, it's a good pair of hats) and now I need your help to choose a ride from this list:

Paiste PST5 20" Medium Ride
Paiste PST5 20" Rock Ride
Paiste PST5 21" Groove Ride
Paiste PST5 22" Rock Ride
PAISTE 20" ALPHA Rock Ride `06
PAISTE 20" ALPHA Full Ride `06
Sabian XS20 20" Rock Ride
Sabian XS20 20" Medium Ride
Zildjian 20" ZBT Ride

Keep in mind that I play rock, classic rock, hard rock and metal. Thank you in advance for any feedback! :thumb:

21" k custom special dry ride
20" K custom ride
21" HH raw bell dry ride
21" (i think its 21") HHX Evolution ride
21" Z custom megabell ride
A custom ping ride (any sure size)

those are just a few good rides. try and listen to them first though. there all sort of in different ranges.

The reason I'm giving you the list is that all these rides cost less than 200€, I know they are not top of the line, but that's my budget for a ride... So, please, please, pretty please, choose one from the list, please!

For all those suggesting rides which are cheap in mainland North America, stop it. That stuff is a lot more expensive in Europe.

I believe I'd go with either the Alpha or PST5. Not sure exactly which one. Whichever suits your music best. Have a listen on the Paiste site. Given Paistes consistency, the cymbals you get should sound pretty much the same as the soundclips.

All those rides you listed are crap. Save up for an AAX Stage Ride or a AA Raw Bell Dry ride. If you want to get a rock ride get an AA rock ride. You will be much happier in the end if you just skip the beginner-intermediate cymbals and go straight for pro. :chug:

OK, I will not buy a new ride, I will save up twice the amount (400€) and I will buy a pro one. In the meantime, I will use my 14'' Solar crash for ride... :amaze:

lol thats awsome :)

TS: Yeah saving for a good ride is the best thing to do. I saved for my 21" Avedis Sweet Ride and havn't regretted it for one second.

I'm now saving for a 22" K Heavy Ride instead of buying a cheaper equivilant.

Since I have the 2002 17" Rock and 16'' Medium crashes, I will save up for a (a bit sloppy drum roll... ) PAISTE 2002 Classic 20" Rock Ride! 249€

It all depends on your price range.

I'm going to be biaist again and say that an Istanbul Vezir 22" would do you well for that. It's versitle and I use a 20" for all rock, jazz and funk.

You might want the deeper soud.

The 21" A Sweet Ride sucks, sorry if I offend anyone, but the only reason its even mentioned ever is because Travis Barker (who sucks as well) uses it. The bell is virtually useless. I wouldnt hate it so much if it wasnt incorrectly classified as a ride cymbal. Its a great 21" crash cymbal, thats all. Just thought I'd state that. Dont get the ZBT ride, Ive made that mistake. You put a lot in and you dont get a lot out, if you know what I mean. As far as your budget goes, i promise stretching you budget 50- 60 dollars will make a world of difference, dont be impatient and settle, if you dont have enough money for something good, wait until you do. Dont wast it on something that you "kinda like". Now on to what would work for you, Any K custom ride works well for the music you mentioned. Go to a music store and try them out, cause you shouldnt let genre restict your cymbal choice. Make what you think sounds good work.

whoever just insulted the sweet ride is frigging retarted. i dont think they have played on, it has a nice wash with a sort of all around bell sound, and a very good bell, and is one of the greatest crashes i have ever had the the pleasure of playing.

plus i got a straight stand for $11 at gc, for my extra crash

the 2oo2 ride is great, although, i would suggest looking into a 2oo2 deep full ride instead, but thats just because its what i have. the classic is still an amazing ride.

You sir, are a moron.
for having an oppinion on a ride?

and denny, its deffentally not mentioned because of travis. everyone on here hates him(well, his fanboys). its mentioned becuause a large majority of people who have heard it love the sound.
