I got so inspired by listening to all the solos that I decided to have a go at something ( no intentions of joining the competition)

not bad...i'm sensing some marching snare roots? Or just seriously heavy use of stick control?

UUUGh, listening to it know I realise how badly tuned my toms are:mad: (Enemytopuplic: no snare background, just heavy use :P)

too much use of the snare i think, even though it was different all the time you should of added like a tom somewere every now and then and your hi-hit, when you did the pedal on them it didnt sound like it opened and closed properly, and i couldnt tell if you were hitting you Crash or hi-hit open sometimes

that was really good, now if you work that snare solo around the set and use what you got, it would be great

Yepp I aree...the pedal hi hat stuff is a bit sloppy at some spots(in fact the only constituents im pleased with is: the snare prelude, and the trips-feel groove) . though, judging from what the toms sounded like on the recording, id rather have left them out entirely :p

very good playing for your 9 months. I can't remember if I could play the Eulogy beat at that time. keep at it.
maybe you should look out for a new microphone. I use a mic that's more than 10 years old, but I still think my recording sounds levels better than yours. maybe also experiment with different positions of the mic. I have mine behind my bass drum at the height of my snare, and it captures almost my whole set pretty well imo. what do you record with?

Yeah, you cant hear the hi hat with the foot during the snare part, ill think of something...maybe buy a new one. Right now I have a crappy computer mic

your mic was overdriving... drums too loud for the mic. put the mic back farther away from the kit if you can, it'll sound a lil' nicer.
it was good tho!

I liked it, but definately the recording kinda turned me off. I also think you should have entered the competition, I didn't like mine at all but its fun to just enter.

Bonham?? im surprised...
You couldnt spot the zeppelin thievery in the solo? I play a poor crappy version of the "the rover" build up in the beginning (hate my playing in that segment, partially because of the toms, and also because of some timing issues...and hmm yeah the whole thing)
If you havent heard the original, then do!!

it was really good for nine months.. only thing i didnt like is wiuth your hi hats around the i donno say 45 second mark? they were really sloppy i dont like how you used the hats there. seemed like they were open way to much and it sounded bad but other then that, it was great

Yepp, you mean the "the rover" part. Ive listened to both the original and my version now a couple of times and have had some revelations :P. Maybe ill give that part another try and post it...I just loooooove how it sounds when bonham does it:thumb:
