Jeez. What a player.

But before this becomes another lame youtube thread, its actually for tabbing out your favourite Bonham-style licks. Rememer, for tabbing, set the font to Courier New!

One lick I've been recently overusing hideously is this:

MT|oo--|
FT|--o-|
BD|---o|
|RLRF|

...and an extension of that, is this:

MT|oo---|
FT|--o--|
BD|---oo|

That last one sounds absolutely monstrous if you can get decent doubles and you keep repeating it, possibly throwing in flams on the snare so you end up with something like this:

SD|---------------f-|
MT|oo---oo---oo-----|
FT|--o----o----o----|
BD|---oo---oo---oo-o|

That doesn't really fit into practical musical situations, so its best busted out for solos etc. Unless you have a drum break or fancy sticking that in... *counts notes* 17/16?

Lurvely...

Anyhoo, lets see yer licks.

Ah. Bonham licks. I won't use tabs, but I'll notate in a way.

Of course there is the old Gadd/Bonham lick... snare, high tom, floor tom, bass phrased either as a 4 stroke ruff in sextuplets or as the "Cobham" style 4 stroke- 2 32nds followed by 2 sixteenths. Bonham usually phrased it as sextuplets I think. Also, bonham would always do triplet combinations with the bass drum worked in, like: (s= snare t= high tom f= floor tom b= bass)

stb
tsb
tfb
ftb
sfb
fsb, etc. He would do these in rapid succession around the kit. See "Dazed and Confused"- Fill after the guitar solo (ssb, ttb, ffb, FFb, etc.), or Moby Dick (recorded version).

Then he'd mix it up by doing doubles on the bass and maybe hitting a tom and floor tom for the first note of the triplet...

TFbb, where the tom and floor tom hits are simultaneous.

Then he had the backwards gadd lick.... bfts. Try mixing up the backwards and forward rolls.....

stfb F bfts Where F is a flam on the snare. Mess around with some of this. You'll get the idea in no time.

However playing with the feel and power of Bonham, well... Good luck!

I never read tabs, but I have this Led-Zeppelin drum technique book, and some of the stuff in there is unbelievable
