Does anyone know a program to convert from mp3 -> mid?
I need the bass on tablature of 'To live is to die LIVE 1989/02/03' by Metallica.
You can download the song for free on www.livemetallica.com in 'the vault'.
(you must be registered) And it's legal!

And i suck in finding tabs by ear. That's way i want the song to be in .mid so i can open it in GuitarPro. Thanks.

there is no such term as mp3 to midi converter. why? because mp3 is a picture of music in wav mode - many channels and many frequences. midi is picture of sound in computer words - that means that there is limited ammount of sounds computer can understand. thus the melody to be converted to midi must be very very simple otherwise it will be like to tell the picture, no matter how many words to see it once will be enough to understand

There is such a thing as an mp3 to midi converter; It's called a competent musician.

Well, if you could find the power tab there should be no problem.

Although I doubt you could.

There are a number of devices out there that'll take audio and convert to MIDI signals. However, they're typically pretty ineffective, fairly limited, and very expensive.

There's no device that'll transcribe The Wall just by running the audio into it, but you might be able to hook up a guitar into a box and get a decent set of MIDI data out of it.

Yes, and some others. I'm not exactly sure though, since I've never considered something like this to be a valuable part of my audio arsenal.

However, typically you need special pickups, cables, etc to use them properly. So let the buyer beware.

There are also a number of plugins on the market that claim to do this as well, but I've never tried them.
