The purpose of this thread is two-fold.
First, Listen to this AMAZING band, that I have raved about for a good long time. This happens to be a live recording, and most definatly not their best song, but is a good example of what I need for my part two.
Secondly, hoping you have enjoyed the audio, I ask you (if you are in the know) to explain somthing too me... exactly HOW does he do those ghost notes at that speed and finess!!! Is he using two hands on the snare, or perhaps a fulcrum roll rabb style?

He does them in the begging, you will need to crank the volume to hear them, very very subtle. Masterfull work.
Check out this drum lick, and explain that to me please.
Faith tryed explaining to me once upon a time but it still escapes me.
Around 1 10 they are more noticable, dont be afraid to pump it up and bob your head.
Another thing, this band is very very important to me. It would do my heart good knowing I have shown others the light. My playing will be forever influenced by STS9, and hopefully Ill be able to upload some of my fav. songs for you guys to give a listen.
Magical magical stuff, I encourage you to look them up. I have bits and pieces of albums, am soon going to order Artifact : Perspectives.

That was really sweet man. I would say that he got them going that fast by starting slowly and then just gradually speeding up.

That's insanely cool. Hot groove. I'm not even sure what he's playing there... if someone could tab it out it'd be much appreciated.

My connection is pretty disgustingly slow, so it might be better for both of us If I point you in the direction of downloading the NIN albums.
Are you familier with torrents?

Wow, amazing.....Im def checking into them more. I really dig the sound. Reminds me of some LTE stuff.
I like it =)
Ghost notes are pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I'm a master at speedy ghosts now , but like al things it took a while to learn.
If you want to learn ghost notes i suggest you first learn them in a shuffle groove.
Atleast thats the way my teacher learned me and i got the hang of it pretty fast.
Now for the other things in the stuff , none the less it sounds uber cool. This song looks trickier then it actually is ( but still indermediate -advanced though ).
He uses a lot of cowbells and other percussion to keep the beat going.
Anyways it might sound dumb but practice is always the key to a good groove.

If you want learn to play ghost notes like that just practise your rudiments at the extremes, for this play them very softly, start slowly and speed them up. If your already good at your rudiments learning to play them softly shouldn't be to hard, and then you'll be playing ghost notes like that in no time.

it's a lovely rhythm without a doubt. Not terribly difficult, though.
Ghost notes like that are just fillers. I do them all the time.
Play a melody line from a leadsheet with your right hand and then fill in with the left hand on the snare... or on the hats... either way...
