so i want to tune my six string eadgcf instead of beadgc. any idea where i would be able to come across a set of strings to do this. the only strings i've seen are conklin snakeskin 7 string sets, but i can't find them in flatwound and $70 seems a little expensive.

I think the problem with buying singles is that the sting feels different than the rest. Also sounds a little different. Can be slightly annonying.

I decided to take the plunge and try EADGCF tuning recently, and the easiest route, for me, was to buy a pack of D'addario XL's in an 8 string octaved set. The octave strings for the D and G were just about right for the C and F. The high F is plain steel, though, so it sounds quite a bit different from the rest of the strings. I may put a little piece of foam under the bridge to take that though.
If all else fails, order a set of 6 strings and buy a single F. juststrings.com is a good place to look.

i used to but guitar strings on me fiver. i just bought a set of d'addario bass string and heavy lguitar strings. (thwe ones where the g string is wound not plainsteel.) the bass g string was about the same size as the E if i remember correctly. i dont remeber that well but the may have been longscale or something only like $5 tho and they sound very similar to the other strings.

I'm still up for getting it, but alas I'm but a poor student. I'm guessing it'll be a few years from now that I can even think about affording it.

Unless they have a mold already... it doesn't really matter where you are, it'll be a LOT. Having to make a custom mold for the neck would be hugely expensive.

i saw that, but i have flatwounds and i believe those only come in rounds. also, i don't want to have one string from a different set because of the difference in tone and feel.
