Is this normal?

Ok, I've read every lesson on slapping and i can slap but every time I slap on the A or D string ill hit another string. Is this normal?

well, define normal.. You need to pratice doing it until you don't hit other strings, that's all. Unless by hitting another string you mean that your thumb is landing on the string underneith the one you're slapping, than it's not a problem.

happens to everyone when they first start learning to slap. Just go really slow and work on your technique.

Whats the angle of your thumb in comparison with the string? The more parallel you can get, the easier it is to isolate one string

And practice practice practice till your thumb melts. If the problem persists, you can always just mute all the other strings :(

My thumb is never parallel. It's almost though... I'm going to say it's like at 15-20 degrees. I don't have a problem with hitting other strings most of the time. Occasionally I'll become human and hit a neighboring string by mistake. :)
