Hey, I haven't got it but I've seen bits of it. I was disappointed by what I saw, Clapton's soloing isnt what it used to be, and Jack Bruce looked like he died an hour before the gig. He didn't sing all too great either. I guess they are kinda past it though... Anyway, bass related. I thought his playing on his fretless Warwick was awesome, but how you guys feel it fits into the music though? I never considered fretless to be a rock thing, but I've been considering maybe trying a fretless in my band. There's some samples here, listen to the live track (www.myspace.com/terrapintrainstation). Not our best performance cus we were all drunk as ****. How do you think a fretless would fit into that kinda thing?

I know, and sadly, some people will pay what they asked for those limited run basses, despite the fact you could have a superior Wal for far less.

It's not the instrument, it's how you play it. Sean Malone played fretless with death metal outfit Cynic, for example.

And Steve Digirgio played fretless with Death.
You gotta cut them some slack, after all they are in their 60's. Of course they arent going to play like 20 year olds anymore. I agree Jack Bruce looked like ****, but he had health problems in recent years including a liver transplant...but I thought he performed pretty well considering...and his voice was still pretty strong.
Ill agree a couple of the songs sounded a little lame(crossroads for instance), but for the most part I thought it was a great show.

Yeh I heard about his liver transplant, what was he actually suffering from?
I believe it was related to booze, he was known to be a bit of a drinker although he supposedly doesnt drink anymore.

What a knobish opinion but its an opinion so you're entitled to it. Anyway whats wrong with them doing a concert or three for money, they are PROFESSIONAL musicains anyway. Aside from that before you start banging on about them not needing money, look into abit of history about Ginger Baker (how he was definitely on struggle street recently flat busted broke)

Sorry for the double post straight up, edit wont work.
But i actually really dug it there was a lot of cool stuff and I'm glad they changed the parts up to the songs. Very cool. Love Jack Bruce still.

I saw a recent solo of Clapton, and I think he's as good as ever.

I tend to think cream was claptons last great moment (especially as i think Layla was before it) after that he was still amazing but not that level of true greatness for me

Which is still about half as good as his contemporaries (Page, Beck, Hendrix, etc).
(most over-rated guitarist ever, IMO)
Clapton's creativity peaked during the Cream years, probably due to the fact that he was out of his mind on drugs at the time.
Alot of his later stuff is boring by comparision

Haha, Ginger Baker can't get into America. If he comes over, he'll be arrested for possesion of drugs.:p

A lot of musicians get into the booze and drugs by situation. One of my teachers was explaining why so many musicians get into booze or drugs. You do a gig, and by the time your done you are usually buzzing and wanting to party and usually there is a party on so you go to it or if you try and calm down you might drink some alcohol or whatever. But also a lot of touring musicians especially are under tons of stress and there are easy shortcuts to cut that stress although damaging ones. Also musicians generally seem to get more exposed to that scene anyway.
