I have a part time job as clerk and all day the radio is tuned to 50's and 60's hits. And when it's not playing corny 50's tunes (Besides Roy Orbison, he's cool in my book) and 60's rock, it's playing old school soul music. And after listening to it a again from a new, musician's perspective, I think my tastes may be delving deeper in old soul music. Especially with regards to the bass work, which sounds progressive in that era (Excluding the old jazz greats).

My point being if you're interested, check out all those "oldies but goodies" from james brown, Lyn Collins, and Bill Withers. The bass lines may amaze you.

I'm not sure, but is James Jamerson one of these people? He's an awesome bassist for those wanting to hear what an awesome bassist sounds like :thumb:

yes he is wonderfull. I love his playing. A good example of it must be "What's going on", a song he recorderd with Marvin Gaye.
